@khavon1237 жыл бұрын
Strawberry Art they only cut what they can to fit the album. All of Anya's lines for example "if you can learn to do it I can learn to do it. I don't know she knew it. I simply knew it suddenly I feel like someone new." Is in the actual live production.

The version I watched Anya stepped on Vlad 2 times and Vlad held his foot and jumped a little bit like how it always happens in plays and then Anya gets it third try and then she dances with Dimitry but Dimitry never stepped on Anya’s foot when they were dancing in the version my school put on.

So when I saw this in Hartford for the pre-Broadway try-out, there was a part in the song where Anya and Dmitry dance (it's a really cute bit; he steps on her toes and she kicks him.) Can anyone confirm if this is still in the Broadway production? I suspect it was just cut from the cast recording since there's not much actual singing during that section of the song, but it was one of my favorite moments so I wanted to make sure.
@clarizamae097 жыл бұрын
I haven't seen it on Broadway but it's common for Broadway to cut a few instrumentals from the cast recording to give the story a better flow whilst listening to the C.R. I mean, it'd be awkward if they play the music and have the actors say what they were supposed to say at that time :)
@katisme15627 жыл бұрын

I saw it this past weekend and it was still in there! Easily one of my favorite parts of the show!
@vulcanvampire7 жыл бұрын
For sure, but sometimes I wish they would cut the dialogue and just record the instrumentals, you know? Like while Anya and Dmitry are dancing in this song, the orchestration is so pretty in the background and it's a shame that they didn't record it. (Plus there are some lyrics leading up to it that were cut, too.) I felt like there was a lot missing from this album tbh. Some beautiful instrumental numbers are gone (like the Romanov ball at the beginning, and Anya's nightmare), and a few smaller songs/reprises that might not seem like much but are important to the story and sound great. For instance, there's a part in Land of Yesterday where Gleb sings, which isn't on the album, even though it adds a lot to his characterization. I just feel bad because for a lot of fans, this CR is the only way they'll be able to experience the show (at least until it tours in a couple years, and maybe not even then), and unfortunately I feel like those people missed out on some good stuff here. :(

@KP-ej7gc7 жыл бұрын
Not a fan of the slower tempo. :(
@vulcanvampire7 жыл бұрын
The slower tempo works really well when you see it performed live. It was actually one of my favorite scenes. There's so much going on in the number (dancing, studying, learning dining etiquette, etc.) The actors move all over the stage and use lots of different props. It would be nearly impossible to perform at the original speed, and would make it much harder for the audience to follow along, which is important because there are a couple of key plot details revealed during the song (this recording isn't the full version.) Plus, like I said, there's so much going on that it feels a lot faster than it sounds.

WHY DID THEY CHANGE THE LYRICS WHAT WAS THE POINT OF THAT THE LYRICS WERE PERFECT BEFORE DX I'm so confused. My childhood... this hurts. The new lyrics seem so awkward and just ruin the song. Also is it just me or does this seem slower and with less of an orchestration? They just don't seem connected with the music and so much less energy. WHYYYY?

In the movie all they had to do was sing into a microphone, in the musical they have to move around whilst singing this so they changed it to make it easier for them to move around at the right parts.

Miss_Broadway they changed the story a lot like I'm pretty sure there's no rasputon (definitely spelt that wrong) isn't even in the play and I like this version better because it adds in facts that weren't in the movie like Anastasia trying to Remember facts I really like this version better to be honest but we all have different opinions i guess
