Te Geldermalsen rijden een aantal LZV's in de variant Trekker - Slider - Euro. Een zogenaamde B-Double. in deze film een stukje instructie m.b.t. de (vele) aandachtspunten voor de chauffeur. Om hiermee te kunnen werken moet je wel een beetje machinist zijn, echt wat voor de toppers! Succes ermee!

Thanks, there are about 1000 so called LZV's (Long Heavy Vehicles) in the Netherlands and we operate 17 of them. Works fine, but requires specially skilled drivers with al the techniques. The sliding axels are used to be able to go into the city with the first trailer and unload with the foldable tailgate.

Niet echt een auto voor de Oostblokkers , had graag gezien dat die ook nog achterwaarts gegaan was naar Dok om door te laden. Had zelf bijna als eerste in Nl de mengvoeder trailer die we dan moesten om koppelen.(truck oplegger en vierwielige aanhanger. Bij heel veel geduld en genoeg ruimte kon je achterwaarts naar de Silo om te lossen.

Cool b-link... but way too complicated and slow if I compare that in to sweden / finland trucks. (we use normal truck and fulltrailers... so detaching trailer only takes few seconds and no need to move axles / tail lift).

This truck is used in city supermarket distribution. It's not allowed (or possible in most cases) to drive with 25,25 into our city's. So that's why they use this system. Yes a 8 meter truck and normal trailer with dolly is faster to detach, it would also mean you'd have to unload the trailer outside the city and reload the truck, twice. And that takes more time than this. Now they just park one trailer outside a city, and change trailers when the first one is empty. (On a side note, these are refrigerated trucks, so unloading outside in summer is not something you want to do anyway.)

@@Fluffy_Vizier Hi Vizier are you an employee at Peter Appel? LZV trucks were mentioned to deliver high volumes of goods to distribution centers from for example nutricion factories.

@@rondonkers4662 No, but I've worked in this sector for over 10 years at a competitor, so I know how it works. I occasionally drive a LZV myself now, but a different combination (box truck with dolly and full size trailer)

Imagine doing this at night in a dirty yard full of puddles. You'd use your full vocabulary cussing while on your knees behind that dolly. Front trailer jacks are dreadful and will eventually ruin the side skirts. Tail lift on the dolly is interesting, does the second trailer have a second lift, second certificate and tests. I'm confused about weight distribution, as a double the front trailer seemingly has two axles rear has four. Other way round surely ! .
