a friend of mine used to drive a England - Sweden truck run every week. he used to take the two (as it was then) trailers to the port one at a time, then they were all linked up just before loading on to the ferry (as the dock is privet land).

This is legal in several states in the USA.Some states we pull two 48 foot trailers but only on interstate highways .To be legal in all states the maximum trailer length is 53 feet.Some of the southern states allow 57 foot trailers.

There are so many different combinations available to Australian operators now 1. 19.00m single trailer/truck trailer 2. 19.00m B-Double 3. 26.00m B-Double 4. 30.00m Super B-Double ( mainly for container work off the warves) 5. 30.00m A-train (two trailer combination with short converter dolly) 6. 36.00m A-Train (two trailer combination with converter dolly) 7. 36.00m A-B Double (A trailer + B-Double with converter dolly) 8. 50.00m Three trailer road train (using 2 converter dollies)

ok time for a stupid question but how do the 1st and 2nd trailers get loaded/unloaded? I assume the trailer chassis slides just like extendable trailers and container skellies so you cant then back onto a bay?

This combination has two 8 meter trailers and one 13,60 meter trailer. In Holland a regular LZV option is one 8 meter + a 13,60 meter combination. That should be 25,25 meter, so this would make 33,25 meter in theory. I don't know why people are complaining about the environment. This is more fuel efficient. And as this isn't allowed outside industrial area's and highways I don't see the any safety issue's. This isn't a compatitor to a train. Train's are ideal for long distances and mass transportation. This has other purposes. Hauling products to main docks where it gets distributed to stores and what not. This also wouldn't be slower, only the acceleration maybe. It would be a pain in the ass to overtake though :p

no dobra, doczepia się kolejne wagony tylko że to już się robi pociąg :) do tego potrzeba specjalnych tras. jeśli zacznie się budować tego typu trasy proste bez górek i długich spadków to można by budować centra przeładunkowe po obu końcach takich dróg i wtedy... wyobraźcie sobie ciągnąć takim kolosem 800 KM 8 przyczep albo 20 :)

Yes I can understand that, but it is nog legal in Europe, the max size is at the moment 25,25 meters. In Sweden they are testing an truck with a size of 32,50 meters

sorry voor een extreem late reactie, maar deze combi mag zeker niet in nederland, alleen een maximale lengte van 25,25 meter. in zweden zijn ze zelfs al bezig met een lengte van 32,50. en idd in australie zijn ze allang een begrip, daar heb ik ze zelfs zien rijden, onvoorstelbaar mooi en ze gaan met 100 km/uur over de wegen kan ik je vertellen

Nee tuurlijk is deze trekker met 3 oplegger niet juridisch toegestaan... dit is puur voor de show vonden we geinig. Wel mogen wij nu met 2 opleggers gaan rijden, want het is officieel nu in de wet vast gelegd. Maar voor allen die hierop gereageerd hebben, dit is pure show.

First we are not allowed to drive with this combination. Second we take the trailers of at the depot and the load them. The truck driver makes it one combination early in the morning when he wants to leave. And it is not a stupid question, it is a good question

u would still need 20-30 truck to load the train up.. these combinations usualy runns between harbours and train stations ether with containers on a loose chassis or they load the trailers o nthi train or ship. one ot hte cons about trains is that the goods go to the next terminal and then what, yeah it gets put on 40-60 normal lenght trucks that have to transport it out in hte country, and thats if whats loaded on the truck is going to roughly the same place or more truck will be needed.

+localchap31 --- You don't back these up. You move from A to B via pre-planned route and in to a docking area where you take it apart and a separate tractor pulls the trailer to the loading door. They are pretty much impossible to reverse.

That is not correct, it is only legal with 2 module in denmark, not 3 as seen in this video. 25m max length, and only on motorways.
