Interesting take on the buying and selling situation. I've used ebay a fair amount over the last 20+ years and have been burnt several times both as a buyer and a seller. Personally i believe that the total return you are likely to get from ebay vs selling to a shop covers the risk involved in selling on ebay. I'd say you may lose out 1 in 20 times on ebay so as long as you net more than 5% return then it is worth doing. Of course, this is looking at it purely from a mathematical point of view and doesn't take in to account the emotional side of it. From experience, being screwed over is horrible and can't be quantified. Whole heartedly understand and agree with the logic behind your decisions, this is a very subjective topic. Money is always a sensitive subject to talk about so appreciate you taking the time and courage to cover this 😀

I get the `Easy Go` part in regards to trading /getting rid of items in at a model shop, yes thats the easy bit. I don`t quiet understand what you mean by `Easy come`? How many locomotives did you have to sell to the model shop in order to raise the £200 for the Bachmann Collectors Club NHS class 66? £200 is not `Easy Come` to everybody.

It’s a catch 22, selling through model shops you lose at least a 1/3 of the value. EBay is an expensive hassle, I only do it on 80% off weekends. And even then I hate the way it automatically populates things like postage , starting price etc….over not helpful AI ! And then they take a % of your P&P costs - WTF ! I always feel abused using their system . Having said that in 22 years I’ve had one issue with a buyer basically b* llshitting about a fault , and one thing go missing in the post
