so i finished watching the entire donghua in a day and i’m just so happy i stumbled across this series. as a chinese american im so glad china is finally releasing a sort of high quality action/fantasy cartoon! i’ve always been a big fan of the anime art style and seeing a chinese studio incorporate some of those techniques and adding the chinese traditional art styles imitating the usage of mò (ink) in this intro took my breath away the first time i saw it. i just feel a lot of pride in being able to connect with this series and my language! also, i really hope they include as much romance between wei wuxian and lan wangji. i know that china isn’t big on lgbtq+ stuff and they have censorship laws but i really hope they keep up the romance. i cant wait for season 2!!!

I have cried so many times throughout this whole story. This opening holds so many emotions and after knowing the whole story (I read the whole novel) I cry so so many times while listening to both the seasons' opening and endings. This is way too emotional. Just today I completed the novel and my heart hearts so much realizing that such a beautiful and breathtaking story came to an end. I am looking forward to the next season of the anime and I really really hope it is released this year. This story will forever be the most beautiful story I will ever read. The novel is written in such a passionate way that my heart swells whenever I go through the chapters. I would really recommend every mdzs fan to read the novel. That book is a must. It was so hard for me to accept the fact that the story ended even though I knew it will someday end.....it's just the fact is so heartbreaking.

No other series, drama and manhua ( i havent read the novel yet) have broken me as much as this one, i don't know what it is, but somehow it captivated me and I think that the form of love represented made me stay. I just want to say that The Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation is a marterpiece not because I'm into BL's/Shounen Ai/Yaoi genre but because the plot of the story is awesome. I had to return to this after I started watching the second season and noticed the beginning of this song was different, not that I understood a word, but I had listened to this song enough to notice the difference anyway. xD Season 1: Leaving storms of the past I gaze imperiously at the firmament Gently caressing the flute with composure At the cloud recesses within the Emperor’s Smile Season 2: Reincarnation and rebirth shroud love and hate in mist We were once acquainted and our azure swords crossed From the depths of the clouds flows a melody of zither and flute The rest is the same. I just think it's interesting they choose to change the first part 😊

@@marti9734 Just because the story is good does not mean it will be most preferred for everyone. Take for example Harper Lee's "To kill a mocking bird", a book that made many racists uncomfortable. MDZS is a good novel, anime and manga but for the sole reason it had the yaoi tag, it will be skipped over because consumers will not waste their limited time trying to find a gem like it amongst a disliked genre, where as they can find an equal or better novel somewhere else with a genre more likeable to them. That is what makes us feel to justify our like for it. The coincidences and greatness of the novel that made me and other straight men give a genre like yaoi a chance, a truly rare thing.

As I don't feel bad for racists who where uncomfortable with to kill a mocking bird I certaintly don't feel bad for homophobic people that don't want to read/watch it by default. It is what it is. (Not talking about you) This is not direct to you obviously as you said it's simply isn't a genre you're interested reading. I actually really get what you said; in most cases I don't really enjoy and have ZERO interest reading/watching romantic fiction in general but if something it's said by many to be a hidden gem, I try to give it a chance! I get that mostly the problem is that this story is always target as just a 'yaoi' when in reality is much more than that. It's a fantasy, action, drama with a bl romance. (Not different from billions of drama/fantasy stories who features romances in it) And it makes me really happy that you enjoyed it, it's really is a sign of good storytelling.
