TRANSLATION: Interviewer: Karen: “Lean On” is now number six on the American single hit list called Billboard Hot 100 this week. How does that feel? Karen: Yeah, I think it is SO crazy. I have actually dreamed a lot about it for many years, you know. But I have always thought I was way too indie to be able to go up on that scale. It’s really mainstream. So it’s so crazy! It’s insane, and I am so happy, because - as I said - I love “Lean On”, and I have really felt that that song, it was not something that was forced. We did not try to make a hit, we just made this song, you know … It felt natural, it was a free process, and none of us thought it would go that far, so I’m just so fucking happy that a song like that can go that far to so many people. ‘Cause it is - I think - not a classic pop song in that way. Interviewer: Why not? Karen: I don’t know, it doesn’t have that typical grand Taylor Swift chorus, that is like: “Aaah!”, you know, it’s very like … it’s much more like a groover, and it has something like a little more … edge! I think it has an edge in some way, it is very difficult to explain, it’s a vibe, it’s a feeling. Interviewer: “Lean On” is now the best placed Danish hit in 50 years in The States! Above “Barbie Girl” (Aqua) and “Alley Cat” (Bent Fabricius Bjerre). Is it better to beat “Barbie Girl” or “Alley Cat”? Karen: No. No, it’s not like that. We must stick together as a music nation. So it is not about beating someone. I just hope more people will get up there and we do it together. How it was made? Well, it was just like, I worked with Wes - Diplo - in 2013, just on and off. And he sent me this reggae beat in 2013, that was veeeery different. And - you know - I sat in this hotel room in Austria after a club show where I got it. And then I just wrote the basics for it. And then I sent it to Diplo and he was like: “Ah, that’s cool!”, and then it was a little back and forth, and then DJ Snake came into the picture, and then, you know … It happened a lot like “Bam-bam!”, and then we met in a studio and then we changed some things and then they changed it, and then we met in another studio, and then, you know … I think I rerecorded it like five times or something, before it was like … “Oh, this is it …”. Interviewer: “Blow a kiss, fire a gun”. Where did that come from? Karen: No matter if you send a kiss or a gunshot towards a person, no matter if it is good or bad, black or white, or you know. No matter who you are, you need someone to … Everyone needs someone to lean on. Everyone needs love in their lives, no matter if they are gangsters or … I don’t know … kindergarten assistants …

Hy, ya, Karen. So. I thought on the way to the mediatheque, that we could have fun together running together, swim together, and cycle together, Karen. But. We do not must do everything of that together, perhaps. Like once, once a year would be okay, doing that together with you, with each other, Karen. Thank you. Bye, ya, Karen. I love you, Karen. Cheers, Benjamin

Hy, ya, Karen. Actually, I think, I would like to, with your braids, cut your braids there off, where, sort of, your hair starts again, sort of, somehow. Also, then, and, also, then open up, open up your braids, your braids again, and, I think, I would also like to see you your hair combing, see your hair combed, being, being combed through you, yours. Sort of, see, how it looks like after that. Bye, ya, Karen. Thank you, Karen. Cheers, Benjamin
