Thank you for sharing your feedback. However, I’m not sure how you managed to find a video with all the instrumental arrangement parts removed. This song is a grand musical piece, and Hua Chenyu’s music is characterized by the fact that each of his songs feels like a short musical drama. He’s someone who knows how to tell a story through music. Beyond the instrumental arrangement, the stage and visuals are also an essential part of his work. So, if you feel uncomfortable or scared, it's one of the messages he wants to convey. Perhaps you should find a complete video with English subtitles and appreciate it again. If you're simply looking to analyze his vocal ability, I suggest listening to his performance of "孩子" (Child). You can search for this title on KZbin to find videos with English subtitles. Thank you for your reaction. I find Hua Chenyu an absolutely fascinating singer. He composes music and uses his voice as one of the instruments rather than just using the instrumentation just as backing, so for much of his work it is about the whole sound. Hua has a broad variety of styles he draws on in his music, depending on what he is portraying, so, although (I think) he has a unique and distinctive voice he often surprises with the style of song, or rearranges a song from one style into another. I love how his performances are not all the same old stuff that was written for "generic singers" to perform in set style :) 🌺🌺

One of the reasons his voice may be drowned out in the middle is because the background vocals are also his voice, which he recorded himself.

Why is there no music? You are missing the whole point of his composition and music without the instumentation 😅. His compositions are so amazing, interesting and great. Plus he is an amazing singer and artist. 😊 I was at his amazing Mars concerts. They are awesome. Best concerts I have ever been to. And I have been to many.

Glad that you're reviewing Hua Chenyu. As the commenter fifihh3214 wrote, when you listen to him you have to consider why he sings a certain part this or that way, and why he has a loud chorus accompanying him at certain part. He wasn't dancing because that song's subject is about something deep rather than frivolous content. Of course, you can opine that he should have and shouldn't have sung it this or that way. Just keep in mind that he doesn't sing the same way as here in all of his songs. Hope you'd look at more of his work. Thank you for your effort.

@@Nikki4China It wasn't my intention to imply that you don't have an open mind. He used to leave all of his songs opened to listeners' interpretation, without giving the background of his work. That's one of the reasons he refrained from making MVs for most of his songs. He said that each person will feel differently based on their own life experiences so, he didn't want to hijack their imagination. He only started sharing his thoughts in his 5th album called "Hope". His 6th album "Tipping Point" was just published digitally on 10 Jan, selling one million units under 24 hours. The amazing thing is that he had performed all the ten new songs, one after another at his concerts in 2024 before release of his new album. He said this song "Illusion and Reality", the first part was like a self-dialogue and he deliberately made the lone voice dry while the part where his voice was drowned in his own pre-recorded 100-track chorus was like a huge crowd lecturing or preaching to listeners or him about how one should live their life and how the world should or shouldn't be. He wrote a long "thesis" about this song and we get to see his thought process when composing. Sorry for this lengthy reply. I wish you the best of luck and good health. Cheers!

First of all, you’re reacting to a comprehensive artist, not just a vocalist. If you’re only focused on hearing something that highlights vocals, you’re missing the essence of Hua Chenyu’s artistry. He’s not about showcasing his voice for the sake of it, he’s actually against that idea. His musical concept is that every sound in a song serves the story and emotion, not just the vocals. While he’s known for his powerful voice and does have songs that highlight it, he only does so when it truly serves the music. In the track where you think his voice wasn’t prominent, it was actually him layering his own voice a hundred times to create the sound of an army marching, symbolizing cyberbullying voices. All the "background vocals" are all him. This level of effort goes far beyond simply showcasing vocals.I hope you can appreciate the depth and creativity of his work, rather than expecting vocal highlights alone
Thanks for explaining that! That perspective is very helpful and I can appreciate that!

Sorry .. no offense.. i get that you are a vocal coach….. but what you say doesnt make much sense here. I dont even know where to start. Hua Chenyu is not a vocalist song singer.. he is a composer.. he creates music. Though he is always in total control of his voice and breath…. focusing on vocals skills only is completely missing the point of his music

I am sooooo mad at myself right now! I wrote out a huge post and it was up for a few hours, and then I went in to edit something and accidentally delted the whole thing! AAAGGGHHHH!

I thought I wrote a lengthy one but here you are with a well-thought out and excellently framed explanation. Hua Hua actually hummed the vocal melodies like in "Seek" and "Miles Away from Loneliness" although in gibberish, he only needed words from lyricists. Cheers for the information I gleaned from your comment.

Your video sounds weird. Why can't i hear the background music!
@schizo27096 сағат бұрын
I am honestly confused. Why would you react to a song and remove the music????? If you just want to listen to someone's singing voice, why not react to a cappella songs? Why would you choose any pop, rock, etc. song consisting of instruments, vocals, lyrics, i.e. a whole composition, and remove one vital part of it? This is not an a cappella song, so it's not supposed to be listened to without its instrumental accompaniment. That's just weird. Thank you, regardless, for reacting to Hua Chenyu!
I would like to point out that there are ALSO huge voices of real singers in China, such as Han Hong, Huang Qi Shan, Gong Lin Na, Gong Shuang, Daiqing Tana, Tan Jing, Shang Wen Jie, Li Yu Gang, A Yun Ga, Gao Tian He, Cai Cheng Yu, Terry Lin, Ping An, Chang Shi Lei, Zheng Yun Long...

I don't think so. Richard from Throga said he would use Hua Chenyu's "Qi Tian" as an example for his students. Also, many vocal teachers have said that Hua Chenyu's "Child" is the perfect model for vocal teachers.
@elisifuentes65519 сағат бұрын
Zhou Shen is a vocalist only.. a song singer. Hua Chenyu is a complex artist .. a composer and artist. Hua Chenyu is always in full control of his vocal chords, using his voice as an instrument. Its all about conveying emotions. If he sometimes distorts it.. its on purpose.

@@Nikki4China There are fans of other singers, who haven't quite reached the level of Hua Chenyu in China, who come onto reactions just to say negative things about Hua Hua. They believe that pushing him down will raise their idol up. One singer in particular, whose fans do this, has a very beautiful voice but no creativity. No dimension. Hua Hua asks that we ignore them but you'll see them on here.
