Oh yeah. He's incredibly intelligent. It shines through everything. Even his performing/ the way he acts for the cameras etc. There's so much acting in it, so much reading the situation and adjusting the vibe- which seems some people still don't realise (because, well, they're far less intelligent). I've been watching some old video in Italian where he was explaining who is Marlena. Even his gestures (an inherent part of the Italian language) are a sign of how articulate and quick witted he is. He was basically talking like a 50 years old scholar, not a 20 years old boy.

I'm from Italy and I live in Canada. As an immigrant, I take huge pride in knowing I come from the same country as these 4 kids, and the fact that they are still "good kids" is very important for us as a culture, knowing they can be crazy as they are in their 20s but still humble and grounded, and have good values, is so amazing. I am one of those people Damiano mentioned who took a plane and paid for a hotel to go see them in Vancouver from Calgary in October, and they were impeccable, their energy was incredible and I was, again, so, so proud of them. I love them very much and, as you said at the end of the interview, I know this is just the beginning for them.

I have to compliment Allison who did the best interview with Damiano I've ever seen. At 26:56 - 31:57, in this part I think Damiano makes it clear how difficult it can be for a rock star to manage his life divided between the stage with the adoring crowd and the private life that he tries with difficulty to resume as soon as the show ends. The past history of rock provides us with many examples of stars who were unable to handle the stress of success and who ended up destroyed by alcohol and drugs, which were anesthetics for them that they resorted to to overcome stress. Damiano (I would say the Maneskin) seems to be a down to earth person and I hope he always remains so. Such great success at a very young age is not easy to handle. And it's nice to know that Damiano, when he can, goes to the stadium to watch his favorite team's football match together with his old friends, and together with them he finds that important part of himself, free from success, a friend among friends . It's not easy to remain yourself when everyone around you adores you: he, they (the Maneskins) succeeded. They are humble and for this reason they deserve everyone's respect.

The interview confirms the greatness of these guys. It's clear that for us Italians the fact that they now only write songs in English is a bit of a disappointment and not due to a question of chauvinism, but simply because, even according to those who are not Italian, the songs in this language are the best . However, we must understand the very courageous path that this band has undertaken, certainly also due to managerial choices. As Damiano states, the fact that he is not a native English speaker does not allow him to grasp all the nuances of this language and therefore the collaboration with authors such as Justin Tranter has proven fundamental and, as he himself says, has opened up a world to him. However, this is something new for him and if the results are these you can only admire them and bow before these guys.

Me and my band are also Italians trying our luck in the USA 💥 I'm happy for Maneskin and the success they've achieved; in my opinion, it's well-deserved because they are professionals. I've heard people judging them negatively, but they're probably just envious. Obviously, their success has something magical. For only a few bands, the stars align so perfectly to create the perfect storm... they were present when destiny called. I've always been fascinated by this aspect of music. In the end, even if you have great songs and do everything right, your moment may never come, and there's no rational explanation for it. But for a few, the showball effect kicks in, leading to unimaginable success. I've become zen; I continue to make music because I love it and need it. I have a following called Noir Family, and even though it's much smaller than Maneskin's, it's still people who appreciate what I do... so might as well not think about it and keep rocking... maybe one day, the stars will align for me too...but maybe they already did and I can't see it clearly :) Rock on! 🤟

Honestly I've not seen many negative arguments against them that would be valid. Most of them seem to be coming from the place of pettiness rather than any actual knowledge. As long as they weren't globally popular, everyone was praising them, they were great, talented, unique etc. When they blew up, suddenly they're a product, they can't play, they're copycats and so on. It's not objectivity, it's a sociological phenomenon. These are the exact same comments that were being thrown upon Elvis, Stones or any act that got too popular too quickly. Shitting on someone who was able to make it is a natural tendency, and some people use it to get their moment of fame. All the best to you!

Having barely recovered from seeing Måneskin live on this tour, in my case it was in Toronto, I am consuming every bit of news, interviews and performance clips I can find. This interview was wonderful, Allison, made me fall in love with Damiano even more. Was a bit disappointed you mentioned you would talk to him about their style-the four of them always perfectly decked out on stage and never wearing the same outfits twice-I was hoping to glean some insights about how that’s done, how many stylists they have working with them, how large their entourage is as their social media presence is impressive and not all fan-driven. But of course I understand there’s only so much you can cover in an hour. I’ve been attending live music shows since decades, and was worried I might be the oldest fan at the Toronto Scotiabank arena this past fall, but was thrilled and delighted to notice tons of people from all age groups, all there for a show they would keep in their hearts forever. The power of music, especially live music, just never fails. Thanks for a terrific interview. ❤

This is only some fan-gathered info that you might already know, but in case you don't: It looks like they mostly work with one stylist (and their team) at a time. Pre Eurovision and sometime after it they worked with Nick Cerioni and his colleagues, including Michele Potenza who has now made a comeback and apparently styled their latest outfits for LatAm gigs, as well as for Valentine music video. Sometime after Eurovision they entered a contract with Gucci and wore almost exclusively that, designs by Alessandro Michele both custom and collections. At some point last year they started to work with Anastasiia Gutnyk, who has been around until very recently, maybe still is even if Potenza has done some styling. Gucci contract seems to have ended before Rush tour since they've worn miscellaneous brands and no Gucci.

Really beautiful interview Allison. As an expat living in Italy for 40 of 65yrs, it’s been wonderful to follow the growth of Mäneskin, and your interview really makes it clear as to why they have captured the attention of so many people (not all so young). Thank you❤

I’m in my 50’s and haven’t been this into a band since the 80’s! I have seen them twice, and love that there are all age groups and types at their shows. Would love to see them in Italy.
