Lin Zer-shui was not only a great general, but also an exceptionally able official. But emperor Dau Guan was a hopeless bum. He simply didn't know he should appoint Lin to a top position in the government for him to do a great deal of work for China and the Chinese people.

Lin Zer-shui was a great general who was totally dedicated to protecting China. But the corrupt, weak and irresponsible Ching dynasty could not help him achieve his ambition to build up China. Finally, more than one hundred years later, China's leader, Mao Zedong maneuvered his troops so brilliantly, and trounced the Allied Troops under the command of General Douglas MacArthur once and again during Korean War in early 1950s. The Western military leaders had to sign a ceasefire reluctantly in the end. The saddest part of the war is all the British crown troops - several thousands in total - were wiped out, including those who surrendered! Recently, Britain had to work cooperatively with China to develop its economy.
