This is a wide topic to be answered but let me try to answer this. Lord Vishnu(Also called as Srimannarayana, Narayana, Hari, Shripathi etc etc names) has 10 avatars which is called as "Dashaavatars" of lord Vishnu. Whenever there is declining morality on the earth he descends on the earth as an Avatar! So Narasimha Swamy is Lord Vishnu's 4th Avatar among the 10 other avatars. Hindu's believe there are 4 "yugas" or timezones. 1st one was Satya yuga, 2nd Tretha Yuga, 3rd Dwapara Yuga, 4th Kali Yuga in which we are now! The final yuga. After each yuga there will be a total destruction on the earth and new life starts again. This incarnation of Lord Vishnu as Narasimha Swamy took place in the Satya yuga. Rama was the 7th avatar of Lord Vishnu(Ramayana also took place in Tretha Yuga) and Krishna was the 8th avatar of Vishnu (Mahabharata also took place in Dwaparayuga) the next was Buddha( In the present Kaliyuga) the final 10th avatar is called "Kalki" who will incarnate at the end of Kali Yuga. Here Dr. Rajkumar is playing the role of demon king "Hiranya Kasshappu"(Just like Ravana) he wanted to rule the entire universe. As Vishnu is the preserver of the universe he kills the evil in each Yuga, therefore all the demons don't like Lord Vishnu and want to kill him. Hiranya Kasshappu had a boon from lord Brahma that he cannot be killed by any creature on the earth like insect, human being, demon, snakes etc etc and he cannot be killed inside the house as well as outside the house and not in the morning or in the night and also he cannot be killed by any weapons, this is the reason Vishnu incarnates as a person with lions head and human body who is a new creature and kills him on the door which is not inside the house as well as outside the house and uses his nails and kills him in the evening . Prahalada is Hiranya Kasshappu's son and a huge devotee of Lord Vishnu right from his birth. As Hiranya Kasshapu wanted to kill Lord Vishnu he was in search of him. One fine day he asks his son where is your coward lord Vishnu he is scared to face me directly, at that time son tells he is everywhere then he asks so is he in this palace son says yes then shows diff things son says yes for all finally he gets angry and says his son let me see whether you are right or wrong and then breaks on of the pillars and Vishnu comes out as Lord Narasimha and kills him.

Narasimha is one of the avatar of Lord Vishnu...Hiranyakashapu s brother was killd by lord Vishnu...so Hiranyakashapu was against Lord Vishnu....But his son Prahalaada was the follower of Lord Vishnu...And according to Hiranyakashapu he is superior and no one is superior than him in world..... prahalada who thinks Vishnu is superior was made to kill by his father many times . Prahalaada was saved by Lord Vishnu s blessings...So finally Hiranyaksha was fed up as his son was following lord vishnu.. So in the last part as Prahalaada tells lord vishnu is everywhere .....Lord vishnu appears in the form of Narasimha and kills cruel Hiranyakashapu Yes Tamil Had also done this movie befor Kannada in 1967 ... Super bro. This is the story of avatara of lord narasimha(man with a lion head). The role played by rajanna is called hiranyakashyapu. Yes He claims to be the Supreme and appu is a vishnu devotee by birth and always claims that vishnu is Supreme and this is the clash. Rajanna says that vishnu already killed his brother hiranyaksha by taking the avatar of varaha (man with pig head) played by darshan's father. Now narasimha at last comes and kills him sitting on vascal of the door according to the boon asked by hiranyakashyapu. Read about the boon asked by him and also read about who hiranyaksha and hiranyakashyapu originally are.

Yeah let me give a detailed description God Vishnu's doorkeepers Jaya and Vijaya (Dwarapalas) once didn't allow 4 children of Brahma to see Vishnu to which they got cursed that they would be born as Demons for 3 janmas (births) and Vishnu's Avatars (incarnations) will kill them each time. So Jaya-Vijaya become 1. Hiranyayaksha - Killed by Varaha & Hiranyakashyapa - Killed by Narasimha 2. Ravana & Kumbakarana - killed by Rama 3. Kansa & Shishupala - killed by Krishna 1st guess : Here Hiranyakashyapa played by Annavru is a hater of Vishnu and his son Prahlada is an ardent devotee of Vishnu..No matter what he does he can't kill the devotion of Prahlada towards Vishnu and so he had to break the pillar and God Vishnu had to kill him as he had to keep up-to Prahlada's faith in him 2nd guess : Bhaktha Prahlada was first made in Telugu in 1967 dubbed into Tamil and Hindi under the same name. Yep you guessed it right Rakshith Shetty got the inspiration from that scene for his entry in the movie Avane Shrimannarayana (ASN) and so in the movie his entry has this clip of breaking pillar from Bhaktha Prahlada and the lines Yaar Avanu Avane Shrimannarayana Thanks for reading patiently.

That lion faced God( Narasimha) was not just angry over Rajkumar character( Hiranyakashipu) by his words only. Hindu mythology says That Narasimha Avatar happened only to kill Hiranyakashipu and want to show the world Whenever there is a decline of dharma(good), the incarnation of the universal lord(vishnu) will comes to this earth to renewal of Dharma. Thus Lord vishnu incarnated himself in 10 different Avatars in 10 different times to kill the evil. That is where the word Dashavatara exists.
