Great vid. I did however remove my Hogue grips after a year and put the originals back on. This isnt a range gun and the original design is extremely smooth. No hang or snag. The trigger guard is even thinner then most S&W revolvers. So i opted for the thinner grips and frankly I have overcome the recoil to the point of understanding what the designers did. Extremely concealable and very easy to move from one carry place to another pertaining to situational awareness. I love this pistol.

Can you elaborate on what you mean by understanding the recoil to the point where you get what the designers did?
@gls3894 Жыл бұрын
@@tonobaker601 Sure, I said that I have overcome the recoil. Full power +P loads can Buck with this lightweight thin gripped revolver. So many opt for a thicker grip for better control. But this pistol is not a range gun I believe that S&W designed this pistol for ultra conceal ability no matter where you carry it. Super smooth draw, point and shoot accuracy from the hip or inside a pocket With devastating full power loads. That’s my understanding for what it’s worth. I’m far from a expert. But I know this. I can have this pistol IWB and be walking out of a establishment or to a ATM and move it to a pocket or palm it without my wife or anybody noticing

Yeah, if you’re gonna shoot it, the soft grip is nice but if you’re gonna carry it, the original one doesn’t hang up !100% agree with you!
@SSid-or8rv2 ай бұрын
100% agreed. This video helped me out a lot when I put these grips on, thanks. However, I too went back to the factory grips too. I really liked the comfort of these Hogue grips; they're thicker so fit better in my bigger hands, grippier and softer for recoil control but when I started carrying AIWB the grip would pull on my skin/hair and also print more. I switched to wad cutters which shoot much softer so recoil isn't bad when doing 20 rnds worth of range practice. Def won't be shooting 100 rnds out of this in one session, that's not the point of this lightweight carry anyway. Now it did lock up on me once had to send it back to S&W for repairs but has been fine since oh and the cylinder doesn't always rotate after closing but that's another topic.

However, I noticed after installation that the grip still moved a bit and then realized that the part shown in step 6 of the instructions needed to be inserted separately and placed as far into the grip as possible. I then placed the last part onto the end of the grip. Once I took it apart and then redid this step, the grip became stable on the gun.

I think those grips just look ridiculous they're oversized for this type of gun Smith and Wesson tested the gun with those gray grips on it and knew it would be perfect for this gun also with 38 + P ammo it also gives it a nice two-tone color how could you conceal this gun once you put heavy rubber grips on it like in the video this gun is made to put in your pocket as a backup gun I see a lot of police officers leave it the original way also you could put night sights on it it's made for the front sight to come off not like the other J frame guns out there like for instance the 642 order for for two there were one piece 👎

@@quixoticmelancholic7141 I'm right there with you brother! Mine went exactly as yours, sweating and just about gave up, it was hard enough just getting the roll pin out of the original grip, even following the videos instruction and using correct tools. Then I could get the hogue grip to just about fit but it seemed "Stuck". I used the plastic from the packaging as guides, just as the video instructed. I too, was about to give up and take it to a reputable gun store, but would be embarrassed to have failed, and that a piece of rubber the size of my palm defeated me. So with one last gasp, with an hour's worth of frustration behind me, slowly reaching the anger stage, and literally all the strength I had, gave it one final push, and whaddya know, it slipped into place! With that finally done, I thought the end cap was going to be a pain in the ass as well, but someone posted a tip that helped greatly, and that is to use one AAA battery into the slot hole and force it down as far as it will insert, and the gap will open enough to slide it over the new rod pin. Don't give up, you can do this! And for the pros and more mechanically inclined who are laughing at this right now, who have posted that it took less than 5 minutes to install, well, good for you, you must live a charmed life, hahahaha.
