My mom uses mor milagai and uses நல்லெண்ணை for தாளிப்பு. We let it stick to bottom of the vessel. Slightly crisp அடி பிடிச்சது Tastes awesome

15:59 at home we like adi pidikardhu . We call it as sorandal 😁 20:12 OMG! True!! That maavadu thanni combo is out of this world. Side dish list goes on . Simple ones I can list out now. Those days our parents don’t make elaborate side dishes. - dosa milagai podi. Various ways we have done that on mor kali. Sometimes we just sprinkle it in the mor Kali cake. Sometimes we make it as upma or khuzhu padam. The one before cake padam - variety chutneys and sambars, thokkus, oorgaais etc…. My mom sometimes shallow fry it also. But doesn’t do that frequently. My grandma sticks only to the above few methods. My mom enhanced and did it like that for school lunch / snacks .

Another quick method of making this dish is to use Rice flour mixed with water instead of Rice batter. Taste would be a little bit different but the taste will be equally good.

One of my favorites. My Grandmother used to make it, and now my mother does. Unique taste. We use rice powder , and don't keep rice mix for fermentation, rather we allow the curd to ferment over night and make it sour.

This is our traditional dish. I make it once a week for evening tiffin. I will add one more item, i. e. Omam( ajwain) in the tadka( thalipu). It will be more flavourful & good for digestion.

The combinations, and options, are limitless, instead of rice flour, we can use maida, wheat flour, ragi flour, bajra flour, jowar flour, gram flour we can add onions, ground nuts, anything!!!!!

The idea was not to waste anything!!!! Left over Mor (Buttermilk) went sour, but gave a fantastic sour taste, to the mor kali. Rice powder was available in every house. Red chillies, green chillies, curry leaves, salt, and asafoefida , all easily available, in every Tamilian household, and voila!!!! we had a home made, healthy tiffin !!!
