@@mrsimpleslowmocry about it
@triplej8666Ай бұрын
@@mrsimpleslowmo thats just a choice matt chose with his placement. In terms of vocal technique matt in his prime is one of the best in metal ever to do it, period. I mean he was able to belt up to E5 in 2003 already is already at the top/above most tenor's belting range, and hes a baritone. Matt's entire range is well supported and resonant throughout, even down to notes as low as D#2. solid, healthy natural vibrato rather than laryngeal, which comes from relaxing his larynx and breathing properly, obviously fry screams he is fantastic at and showed that on WtF and CoE, he can use alot of nasality in his singing if he likes (WtF, CoE) which you say you are not a fan of, but he also drops it on other albums when he doesn't feel like it in certain parts of songs. You saying he has a below average voice is your subjective opinion of his tone and his choice of placement. Tone is a natural thing and subjective, and bringing that nasality in does not hinder his technique at all, it just changes the sound. You're objectively wrong in calling him a bad vocalist.

Hearing Matt talk about how he feels about playing the old songs and trying to move forward really gets under my skin sometimes. I'm not really a fan of their last 2 records, but not because they aren't good albums. They are good, but in a different way than what I'm used to and what I want to hear from them. I'm a guy that loves going back and revisiting the old places and sounds and sights and reliving moments of my life when I thought they were better. It takes me away from the reality I live in now. I'm also not a forward thinking person like Matt is. I get that he wants to push boundaries and explore new sounds and make new music and not be just another legacy band riding off 3 solid albums and top 10 singles (looking at you Godsmack). But hen I listen to Avenged, i think back on the days when I saw them all tatted up with the emo gear and the energy and the roaring vocals. Now they all just look like normal dudes on stage. There isn't really a big stage presence from them anymore, just lights and pyro and video screens behind them. They look bored on stage, and I know that Synyster always looks bored on stage, but now they all do. They really aren't the band that I used to listen to and it sucks, but that's a personal issue. I could try to get with the times and jam to their new stuff, but it wouldn't feel authentic to me. That's not the place I'm at right now. And that's why this gets under my skin, because I see that the era I'm still living in isn't where Matt is either and it feels like a friend is growing farther apart from you and the distance is vast.
