Masters in IIT/IISc or anywhere is mostly not worth it unless you want to do a PhD or do not have a job in software. It is much better to get 2 year software experience and specialized skill training.

Iit guwahati offers a separate mtech in data science (not talking about mtech in robotics and ai), iiit Allahabad has mtech in data science and analytics. I wanted to know more about these specializations. Also could you please compare between iisc mtech in CDS and AI. They seem to overlap a lot.

@@deepayan. Yes I agree....there might be many institutes doing Mtech in AI/DS which I am not aware about and there are many overlaps as well. Hard to differentiate those overlaps to be honest. Best is join under some profs working in AI and start woking in AI projects

For PhD I dont think you need to be in AI dept. Any CSE related dept you can join and work under someone who is doing research in AI/ML domain

You can join MS through project. Some IITs like IITKGP/IITM used to offer it. I am not sure whether its there in other IITs. I will soon make a video on this.

Its ok, if you know C/C++ thats enough. No need of any formal course. As far as i know they ask it to make sure you know these languages. I suggest after Gate, learn C and C++ before joining Mtech

Check PMRF website for the criteria, they change it every year. I think there should not be any issue if the cutoffs are cleared.

Is there any set criteria that only this amount of people will get PMRF. How difficult it is to get it? 2. What process do we need to follow. How to approach the supervisor, if at all supervisor is the one who will have the authority. 3. Is it dependent on the research topic we choose? If it is, which domain of research are easier to get the funding. 4. I learnt from the site that if our percentage is less than 80%. We have the option of getting into lateral entry. If you could explain a bit, what is Lateral entry and How it works? Also, If anyone you have seen getting this. 5. How much time it takes to get the response, if a person is getting PMRF or not. In both the cases, Direct as well as Lateral.
