In which I look at the brilliant and innovative sound design of Fritz Lang's 1931 masterpiece, 'M'. Kept the original aspect ratio for the sake of showing the film in its truest essence.
MUSIC USED IN ORDER OF APPEARANCE:
Edvard Grieg's - In The Hall of the Mountain King
Batty McFadden - Kevin MacLeod
I Eat Plants for a Living - Existence
Mt. Fujitive - Winter Weibs

Hi all - apologies for the recent inactivity. If you follow me on Twitter, you'll know that my Alien video was twice taken down for copyright issues. This explains my absence. I worked relentlessly on this video to make up for that, so please do drop a like & comment if you enjoyed it! Thanks!

Excellent work, I'm sorry to hear about the Alien video, I'm glad I saw it while it was up. Needless to say, Fritz Lang is a genius, his history as a filmmaker is fascinating, his innovations are important, cinema wouldn't be where it is today without him.

Thank you, sir! Spot on. He changed the way we look at films & developed new iterations of filmic language.

What I love about your channel is that you are dealing with both classic and recent films. That way you prove that the art of cinema is progressing more and more into the years having some good examples then and now.

Thank you so much for the kind words. I know that it's easier to grow a channel if I talk about more contemporary things, but I never want to breach the structure I have going on for popularity. I like to deal with classics and recent films, purely because it's what I feel best represents cinema. I'm glad you feel the same way!

Great analysis, pal! I've been binge-watching your videos recently and they are excelent! In regards to this video you have made me appreciate more this masterful work of Frizt Lang! (I've had only noticed the whistling as the film's leitmotif and, personally, I didn't pay enough attention to the sound design)Thanks again and keep up the superb job :)

Speaking of sound. You don't need background music. But great video.

My comment exactly. The muzak behind your analysis takes away from your work, but good job otherwise.

This was a great analysis of M. Took me back to writing about it in graduate school. Not crazy about sound within this clip, however. I understand the desire to keep you tube audiences focused with a groove track but it was highly distracting and what the narrative was saying was far more important. Would love to view his again without the lounge music. What you have to say should not be so continuously obscured.

Can you talk about the importance of music in action films like superhero movies or like star wars

Perhaps one day, although you'll likely never see a STAR WARS video from this channel since I care very little about the franchise.

4:40 pronounced "hee-nus" or "hay-nus". Never "highness".

Right! "Highness" is what you call a Prince or a Princess, as in "His Highness, Prince Charles" (now called King Charles), or "Her Highness, Princess Diana." (May she rest in peace. 🕊️ ✌️)

Fun fact: Trump used the leitmotif of the murderer in Lang‘s „M“ as soundtrack for his Trumpism video on his Twitter account.

In the Hallway of the Mountain King is an immensely popular classical piece that has existed before this film. Stop trying to act like you made some eerie discover, your making this same comment on multiple comment sections, get a life.
