I 'came of age' in the 1980's. Throughout middle school, high school, college, Motley Crue and their music were a HUGE part of my life. They remain, to this day, one of my favorite bands. Motley Crue fans tend to feel a strong bond, a strong connection with the band, as they are reminiscent of our youth. It's always interesting when the Crue is back in the news, as is the case recently. "Too Fast For Love" remains their VERY BEST album - and one of rock's finest. It's raw, pure, passionate... In many ways, definitive of the times in which it was made...

When I started dating my girl, she thought Dr. Feelgood was one of the great rock albums. I asked what else she liked from Crue, and she didn't really know much else. First I played her Girls, she thought that was great, but then I had to explain and show that Too Fast is just the shit! Same thing with Metallica, she thought the Black album was great, until I played her Master of Puppets. She thought Shake Your Money Maker was great, until I played her Southern Harmony and Amorica back to back. It's fun schooling people on great music. If this album sucked, there would be no Crue. Undeniable--their best album. They may have made better economy on other recordings --but this is the one, period. Mick arguably-- probably without knowing--made history with these tracks, amazing guitar hooks and grit, that was never able to be re-captured, and that is a good thing for the purist. Tommy was heavy, NiKK was heavy and Vince's voice was unique. They killed it here. 2nd album worked, it was great. Downhill from there except with radio and commercial appeal, cashed in. Too Fast For Love, made them.

Motley Crue had faith and relied on the best music "professionals" to make them into something big. Local band hits the lotto.
