@Greg Hubbard Exactly. Motley Poo was part of an inconsequential and embarrassing part of rock history. I always laughed at the way retards went ga-ga for their pathetic image. I only remember one song...and it was shit as fuck. "Girls, girls, girls, bo-bo-body shop at the marble arch." That might not be verbatim but is a rough approximation of the frightful sonic diarrhea I remember being subjected to. I dunno much about them because I'm not a queer, but I would probably enjoy the drug abuse stories. All I remember is one kid from where I lived liked them. He was an excruciatingly insipid square in his late teens. Shame, because when we were in school he was as funny and delinquent as I was. Maybe I go too far, but, fuck it...

I'm a bit bummed they're not doing another tour, for selfish reasons, mainly the fact I didn't get to see them live! I cried when I was under 10 (probably between ages 6-8, as I had already been to a BUNCH of awesome concerts by that point) my mom only had G.A. tix for some festival they were headlining in the bay area in the 80s. I wanted to see them live SO bad, ...but my mom didn't want me to get killed in the mosh pits of the old days. Somehow I still *never* got to see them as an adult either! But I still love these guys!! I dressed as Vince Neil in 2005, for a Hot Topic event when I worked there in Los Angeles and I got up to serious mischief dressed as him (I had that same Crue bandana Neil rocked with the pentagram on his forehead from the show mom went to that I had to sit out as a baby rocker) I think that thing gave me power of feeling linked to his mojo. Lol. I walked around with a beer and cigarette hanging out of my mouth nearly all night too. Haha. I also ran into an employee dressed as Nikki Sixx which was effing amazing.

"Booted from the band when his vocals on Gen Swine didn't live up to expectations" - Haha. No. He's 50x the vocalist that Vince is (and I love Vince). John was actually giving Vince vocal lessons during the Generation Swine period, and the band was planning on keeping both of them in the band. The record company told the band that they refused to release any album in which John Corabi appears. They considered dumping the label and continuing on their own, but, ultimately decided they needed money and publicity more than integrity.
@freultwah5 жыл бұрын
Precisely. The band did not want Corabi to go, and did not want Vince to return. Plus, that ostensibly Nikki's unfriendly comment about Corabi does not ring true. While he may have uttered it during their lawsuit regarding songwriting credits on ‘Generation Swine’ (Corabi claimed he wrote a lot of it and was never credited), they were actually in Brides of Destruction together, and Corabi left because of Tracii Guns. Corabi quote from Wikipedia: 'To be perfectly honest with you, I get along with Nikki [Sixx] splendidly, but when I left the band I told Nikki that there was gonna be some egos involved, I don't wanna say who, but I just said there's a member in this band that I just do not get along with, that I do not write well with. First of all they basically told me that they don't need me to write at all, so I was like I'm not into that situation, and I told Nikki "Dude, I love you to death. I known that you and I can write a great record and so I'm out.". And as it turned out he just sent Bruce [Kulick] an email like a week ago and said "Tell Corabi I'm really sorry about the Brides of Destruction thing and he was right." Because Nikki is having an issue now with the person that I was having an issue with… So we'll just leave it at that.'[21] en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brides_of_Destruction
@mikal5 жыл бұрын
@@freultwah Oh, Corabi obviously wrote and co-wrote several of the Swine tracks. "Let Us Prey" is pure, 100% Corabi. Nikki might have had a single digit percentage level of participation in that, but it's obviously rooted from Corabi's brain. They even left his scream in the chorus, and didn't credit him.

Metallica was "still" playing thrash?! Crüe was founded before Metallica and played a musical style much closer to traditional metal, while thrash was revolutionary. Crüe rules, but their sound was only one piece of the legacy. In 82, metal altogether was only just starting the climb towards the mainstream, and thrash was much further from it.
@cousincletus78435 жыл бұрын
I personally cannot call Justice for all a thrash album if this is when your looking for a mainstream thrash band or album that broke thru for thrash metal. closest I can think of being mainstream is Anthrax. I'm the Man I'm so bad I should be in detention! ha Not a thrash song but the beginning of rap-metal fusion that brought the world Crazytown and Limp Bizket whooooo............ gotta have FAITH baaaaaabbbyyyyy
@GrizrazRex5 жыл бұрын
...and yet one of Anthrax's biggest tracks is "Got the Time," by that musical chameleon, Joe Jackson. Does this make JJ the true father of thrash? You just might have to look for his early song, "Friday," and judge for yourself.

Y'all are having reasonably interesting discussion, but I think you might've not seen what I was actually pointing out, which was the absurdity of the video's insinuation that in 82 Metallica was playing some old boring crap, while Crüe was on the leading edge of metal. Although Crüe were great pioneers of the scene they largely paved the way for, thrash was so much more musically ambitious.

I’m not a glam rock fan at all, but Motley Crue always had and always will attract tons of fine women to their shows. If you played your cards right you could end up getting laid after one of their shows. They do have some pretty kick ass tunes as well. By the way, the first time ever I smoked a blunt, I was jamming to “wild side”. I will never forget that experience.
@cousincletus78435 жыл бұрын
it's a shame crue is getting pigion holed into glam rock. the only glam album they released was Theater of Pain each album was different from the others they did. when girls was out, were they like glamsters def cat or aerojones ? girls was a sleazy record. Dr. wasn't at all like the glam shit being produced at its release. either. Heres a few groups from around then. this is the last hurrah for glam and it's shit ballad BS. Warrent, Winger, Enufs enuf, Whitesnake (sorta kinda) Nelson, and Stryper. this is what killed metal. I can't believe that shit is in the metal conversation.

Seen GNR , Metallica and Faith No More in Indianapolis in I think it was 1991 Axl said something about Indiana where he's from the the crowd booed him he walked of something like 6 or 7 songs into the show. Waited nearly an hour for them to drop Metallica's stage and put up the GNR setup, all for him to be a whiny dick and leave.

Those parties never happened! I was there ,I sat and talked with Mick and Nikki for hours after every show. When I started playing the club's on the Strip in 1984,I made sure that I was going to be what I thought guys in bands do, grab some girls and go party, where ever, until you pass out and try and find a way home or whatever. These guys partied like everyone else,once they hit the road. But I started as soon as I was playing and buy the time I started touring,I wasn't snorting ants,but in was with every girl that came up to me and parties every single day ,for 10 straight years! I might only have 2 houses ,but I had a great time ! Way better 2irhout the poor me drama Frankie always is going on about! The Dirt is all fiction,I was THERE!

Motley w/ John Corabi was a TOTALLY different band w/ a TOTALLY different sound. Go back and listen. Yeah, they called it Motley Crue, but they shouldn't have. I love the classic lineup as much as anyone, but Corabi was a KILLER vocalist and musician. Go back and listen to that album he did with them. That album didn't do well mainly because it came out in 1994, and in those days, the name Motley Crue was basically a four letter word. They were not cool then, no matter who was fronting the band. Grunge and alternative rock ruled the roost. On the other hand, to imply that Corabi's voice and/or vocal tracks on Gen Swine weren't up to par is simply fictitious. Corabi is VASTLY superior to Vince Neil when it comes to vocal talent. On the other hand, the sound of MC is with Vince on vocals. It's hard for any Crue fan to get around that. Bottom line, that Corabi album was/is KILLER. Go back and listen. Imagine the name of the band isn't Motley Crue and evaluate the songs then.

As a little kid (4-5, 84-85) I didnt understand their image and the way they dressed and why older kids liked it. Sometimes I thought they looked wild and scary (like their early days and girls girls girls era) but other times I hated the way they looked and dressed (theater of pain, dr feelgood).

I'm really well versed in the whole movie scene, ending in around 2015 or so....I really remember giving it a 9/10. But Motley Crue is Motley Crue: And I absolutely positively love them until the day I die 🙂

Saw them when they opened for Aerosmith years ago and they sounded awful! Distorted every which way, and it became even more blatant once Aerosmith took over with their crystal clear sound. You just wonder if they’re too drunk to notice or care.
@evangeline77x5 жыл бұрын
You have to consider Aerosmith typically has 4 out of 5 members that are comitted to professionalism and putting on a good show/ always giving their fans their money's worth every performance. Meanwhile, Motley Crue only ever really had Mick Mars that gave a shit about musicianship and who maintained any semblance of professionalism. It's no surprise, imo, that given his age (10 years older than Nikki, Tommy and Vince) and declining health, he's completely over it.. Besides, Motley Crue's live shows have always been more about the spectacle than the music.

@themadmattster96475 жыл бұрын
depends on how youd define nuts though. GG assaulted women, but had too much of a small dick to really do much and would just get so wasted and fucked up and people would just kick his ass. Who knows if all the women with Crue consented though 100 percent, and then there's the matter of STDs and unwanted pregnancies. The Norwegian Black Metal bands did their thing for maybe about 1 year and a half, while some tours that Crue had lasted that long. A lot of the Norwegians later became pillars of their community, which is strange to think about, but nevertheless true. Ihsahn (who admittedly didn't do many if any crimes) is like this respected music teacher in his town to give an example. I don't know, apples and oranges. Considering how rich Crue were there might be even more fucked up stories we don't know about. I mean the whole Razzle thing is heartbreaking and sad not to mention the fact that Neil's negligence resulted in extreme injuries to the people in the other car involved.

I'm still a HUGE Crue fan. But, I went to 2/3 "farewell tour" dates, and they kept playing pop songs from the likes of Justin Beiber, Ariana Grande, and such, during the pre show, intermissions, and Tommy's drum solo across his rollercoaster track and back. If that's not selling out, I don't know what is. 😂😂😂

“Has there ever been a more dangerous band than Motley Crue”? Yes. Rage Against the Machine comes to mind. They ignited crowds like no other, to the point of many riots and uprisings at shows. Pure energy. They were the kind of band that the CIA or FBI would try to eliminate. Crue was just a bunch of incredibly self-destructive glam rockers. I dig their music, especially the early stuff. It’s aggressive and raw. But Motley Crue was more of a danger to themselves than anything. And Vince killed someone and crippled 2 others and got a slap on the wrist.
@cousincletus78435 жыл бұрын
saddly there seem to be no more political bands anymore. america needs more bands like rage and nofx. everyone appears to be slowly joining in with the goose stepping fear mongers who currently hold sway here. Ozzy wasn't as crazy as mötley Crüe. In his book he wrote that he had to take more drugs and doing stuff because of his image. That was the first time he was happy that his wife was with him on tour because she stopped that kind of party. Otherwise, Ozzy wrote, he had never survived another tour with that guys.
