אני תמיד נפעם מעומק ההבנה של ד"ר קידר במוח הערבי/מוסלמי. וגם המראיין לרוב שואל ומשיב טוב. כל הכבוד. איזה הוכחות יש לזה שאירועי תרפ"ט התפתחו עקב ביקורו של הרצל?

Great guest, good interview. Kedar is saying what a growing number of Muslims and X-Muslims are also saying about Submission, including, that Quran stories are... too familiar. As another form of imitation of Hebrew Bible sources, Muslims also call themselves a Nation, a "House," "tent" community--Ummah (same word, only in Arabic the syllable "UM" before the last is accented--UM-mah vs the Hebrew, u-MAH). The two ummahs and religions developed in significantly different ways. Fast forward... Zionism has actually succeeded (and will continue to thrive) thanks to Secular Humanism and high level of emancipation among Jews. Ben Gurion who, indeed, "had the Bible in his veins" was a member of (an essentially secular) Society for Bible Research. And because of his deep interest in the Bible, he reminded his religious friends "that the Bible was given to the Jews, not the Jews to the Bible." That is, he reminded them to stop imposing religious ideas--a similar idea to the less diplomatic Shmaiah who bluntly suggested: "Love your work and hate the rabbinate." BTW, despite the surface logic, prohibition of alcohol (ironically, an Arabic word), is likely to create a black market. Only relentless education and other creative ways of turning alcohol (and other dysfunctional addictive lifestyles) to "uncool" can work.

1. But Dr. Kedar's point is that Zionism *is* failing. Arabs within Israel generally have no interest in Zionism per se, only in the services which the State can provide.The Jewish population within Israel can no longer be counted on to unify around the Zionist banner; much of that population prefers to rally around universalist secular values instead of any particularist Jewish goals, particularly since those secular values demand far less personal sacrifice and commitment. The founders of Zionism hijacked the age-old religious love of and aspiration to the land, in support of their own nationalist aims. They assumed the commitment to that dream could be maintained independenly of its religious dimension. But the current unwillingness to commit to Zionism disproves that assertion. 2. You are mistranslating רבנות as "rabbinate". In modern Hebrew, the word has aquired this connotation, but a more precise translation would be "master-ship". G-d is not referred to as רבונו של עולם -- "Master of the world" -- because of the number of ordination degrees hanging on His wall. And so, this is not a statement about "rabbinate" but inappropriate abuse of the necessary trappings of the master-student relationship. 3. It's a little hard to argue that Shmaia was against public education of religious ideas, when subsequently we see that Hillel and Shammai received the [Oral] Torah from Shmaia and Avtalion.
