Just started working at a gun trading business that specializes in m1's and needed to learn how to break one down. This helped so much! Thank you for showing everything so well

Man I was thinking about my past reminiscing.. and started to think of this rifle. It was the very first rifle I was in charge of. had about 50 I had to keep inventory of. Before that I had only had shot guns or small caliber Remington's. In high school I was in Marine Corps ROTC, I was the drill team commander and Color sergeant. that was the rifle we were supplied. (20yr ago. Man, different times, could you imagine walking around a high school today with an assault weapon not a cheap wood hollow look-alike either... the barrel was welded shut non operational tho..but that weapon could have very easily seen combat in it time.) I remember the other boys saying something like. "You got a gun? What? It's not real." I would grab my crotch. Quote full metal jacket; "This is my rifle. This is my gun." Then rack the charging handle. The sound that would reverberate down the hall made it clear, it was undeniably REAL. Long story short I was looking for a video to see if I still remember how to take it down. Found you! That's what I remember. Good vid appreciated the post. To the creator tho.. no disrespect, only constructive criticism. On the next one spice it up a bit it was a little dry.. make a script, practice a bit, I can tell you where just talking. The vid felt slow but was only 15 mins.. add some fun facts as you work on a step. Something to keep them entertained.. get the crowed exited.. you came off like you where bord and done it 100 times.. well your audience my have never. They will feel your energy thru The screen. If your excited, They will be to... just saying, I think it will help u get more view.. you clearly love weapons or this one, or you wouldn't have chose to make the vid.. let that passion show.. no disrespect or anything. Hubble advice. I'm leave a like and follow hope to see more from u. You seam knowledgeable. (On here the facts aren't just the key. You have to become an entertainer. How the saying go... a spoon of sugar help the med. Go down..) ppl have a very short attention span. Best of luck to you sir. Hope to see more. Thanks for reading sorry so long

Thanks for this. I've field stripped my M1 a few times but I never knew how to take the other portion of the hand guard off without breaking it. Such a great rifle overall. I really like how surprisingly soft the recoil is despite the powerful .30-06 cartridge.

Out fucking standing video bro. I have a 1943 tiger stock M1, it’s in 95% post war arsenal re-serviced condition. I used your video too get the hand guards off (nice trick with the pin, never saw the damn thing) so I could mineral spirit and tung oil them as I did the stock. Really cleaned off the aged grease and dirt, now after an application of Brazilian Carnauba Wax to help protect and water resist, it looks mint. Keep up the good work !

There are Korean letters written on the shoulder belt and the rifle must have been used during the Korean war. I was taught to disassemble and reassemble M1 during my military training class in high school. I got measured the time of disassemble/reassemble process with a stopwatch and given a grade based on my performance. I was No. 1 in my class, though.

@Shawana Washington LOL, You can say that. The class was military training and 'M-1 Garand' was a important chapter.

I inherited an original WW2 M1 garand, but it won't fore rounds. it only leaves a small dent in the firing pin and that's it.
@MadMetalShop

Light primer strikes? Maybe some worn out Springs in the trigger group or a defective firing pin. Not too sure without seeing it.
@3rdGenGuy
@3rdGenGuy 9 жыл бұрын
MadMetalManiac74 as far as I can tell the firing pin is fine. I managed to get 1 round fired, but that's it. Different amo brands made no difference

SANIC try having someone look at the chamber. The problem with mine is the chamber is too worn. What happens is most of the time it's only hitting the back and pushing it forward and not hitting the primer to make a shot go off.
@3rdGenGuy
@3rdGenGuy 9 жыл бұрын
109eb I replaced the OP rod and hammer spring. And then greased the gun. It works now if I chamber the 1round as hard as I can.
@3rdGenGuy
@3rdGenGuy 9 жыл бұрын
If I don't jam the op rod forward hard, it won't fire

Yeah I want to take the handguard off to strip and and refinish the wood. But I don't want to remove that front sight. Just don't want to have to re zero with $0.90 a round again. Or maybe I can just put masking tape on all the metal... hmmm
@MadMetalShop
@MadMetalShop 5 жыл бұрын
You're only spinning the block off and right back on. Doesn't really have anything to do with the actual sight post. That should remain in the same place that it was when the block was taken off. Shouldn't really effect sight too much.
