In some jobs 4K€ for a piece of equipment isn’t anything special. If you need something like this, you just pay the price because you need it. It’s not intended for regular people to buy it, just because they are used to buying the most expensive option from Apple lineup. Just get the air and you will be happy for years.

This is such an incredibly powerful machine. It was the reason I made the switch, as a lifelong windows user to Mac. The m1 max means BUSINESS. All the work I used to do with windows, there is literally zero problems with this. I've seen first hand, Producers for movies/tv show productions use this for music and for editing scenes.

I'm currently using my 2019 16" MacBook Pro with the i9 core and I enjoy it a plenty without feeling the need to upgrade. Its still lighting fast and does everything I need it to do. Maybe in a few years I'll upgrade.

Aaron I think it would be interesting to make a video showing some of the tests and real world use of a brand new $4k machine! For instance you could do some bench marks. Do some exports from what ever editing suites you use with a couple presets like Pro res, 4k, etc for a specific video length (10, 20 or 30 minutes) and give us a feel how this thing actually performs.

Personally, if I designed a Mac, I would have a Mac SE and a Mac SE Max I would have the SE similar to the 12 inch MacBook from 2017 and the Mac SE max with an entirely touch keyboard, meaning basically just not a physical keyboard and a display your typing on. Basically a foldable iPad with macOS.

I can assure that the fan doesn't spin up at all. I'm connected to Pro Display XDR. Probably going to keep it in my drawer since it won't get hot.

So we have MagSafe again, we have gotten rid of the Touch Bar, it became thicker and heavier, with soldered together iPhone CPUs as its main CPU. What?!? I don’t know….it may be fast as hell but for now I’ll stick to my 16 inch i9 5600 M and 64 gigs. This MacBook has worked like an animal and has made me it’s cost back many times over. I will wait out this generation which really seems to be geared to video production and photography, neither of which I do as my profession and I ain’t buying no binned chipped defects Apple for crazy money, sorry Tim. My most recent computer (laptop) purchase was Dec 2014 (2012 13" unibody (Retina was too expensive at the time). This baby is what I have been waiting for also (32 ram 1TB). I just got back into photography and my old "baby" is hiding all the detail on its dim screen. Looking forward to it…2 more weeks!!! ❤

The thickness of the bottom is increased because of the HDMI port than last gen would have been to slim for a HDMI port and the screen might be thiccer to match the nice edge design like the iPhone 12 or maybe the screen is thiccer because of the high colour xdr display

@@TiggerLyOne Yeah, it’s like Macs are only made for that group, and the rest of the people are screwed if they wanted to buy one. Basic engineering programs are available but when you want the big guns it’s mostly a no go. Though I think the blame mostly falls on Apple as you can always find a Windows or Linux version but rarely a macOS version. Maybe just slightly maybe once they’ve completed transitioning to their silicon Macs they’ll devise some sort of plan to actually make it worthwhile for these companies to actually make other professional apps for the Mac.
