i mean it should be that fast for its price. i mean the core i5 12600k is a little less powerful (but has much more overclocking potential) while being much cheaper. you can get a gaming rig with core i5 12600k and rtx 3070 for 1500€ while the macbook pro m1 max with a usable amount of storage starts at 4000€. also the cpus are comparable while the rtx 3070 just makes the m1 max look like a joke. i mean the core i5 12600k integrated graphics are closer to the m1 max than the rtx3070 which is very sad. and that a brand new m1 max is faster than a multiple generations old desctop cpu should be kinda obvious because so are brand new laptop cpus
