We must have used an older version as there was no drop down assist that I remember to aid in loading. I loaded rounds and fused them. I drove that beast rather than bounce around in the cab. I placed many bags of black power at Fort Sill and later at Dix on weekends. I eventually went from gun bunny to FDC role in the field yelling the F I R E command into the phones from an isolated desk set up with lines I would run to each gun and the "computers" (LOL - Guys who used SLIDE RULES!! to figure target) NJNG Tuckerton NJ c.1972

Oh the joys of getting under the back of a reversing M109, to locate the spades properly. We never used the ram, far too slow, as you can see in this clip

Norway just sent 20 or so to Ukraine. What is more useful to them? A self propelled m109 or a towed one that perhaps shoots faster?
@gtd652 жыл бұрын
@@hoplahey I'd say an SPG can be brought into and out of action quicker than a towed gun. I preferred the enclosed option, particularly in poor weather or when firing longer range rounds.

The new M109a can shoot nine projectiles a minute at a range of 47 miles with pinpoint accuracy, compared to the one in this video that can only shoot one projectile a minute at 7 miles, it would be very lucky to hit its target within 100 feet. In fact the army is developing a hyper sonic projectile for its new howitzer, they plan to hit a target within 3 inches from 1,000 miles away. 👍🏾

@@MrHFam-st4ni no. i don't know what this guy is talking about. They are developing a new long range gun based on the M109 chassis but the army is changing the Number. To bad it would be awesome for it to be the M109A8

Yea the m109a7 is still 3rounds a minute for 4 minutes… until FDC calls out “go black on ammo” then it’s what ever you want it to be lol!
