In this video we apply weathering products, assemble and paint figures and of course the final reveal of Tamiya's 1974 release of the 1/35 scale M113 Armored Personnel Carrier Model Kit.
This is Tamiya Kit Item 35040.
AFVClub track kit AF35306.
The M113 was first introduced into service in 1959, production began in 1960, and was fielded in Europe in 1961. The M113 has served in nearly every armed conflict since. Over 80,000 units have been manufactured and are in use around the world to present.
I hope you enjoy this Video!

Nice work on that old girl. I absolutely loved sleeping on the inside bench after training out in the field. It was more comfortable than my M1A2. Even though the M113 is old, she still has a lot of life in her.

Thanks Jesse👍if you think about it, she's one of the most long-lived military vehicles ever built. Adapts easily for upgrades and Maintenace isn't that difficult to accomplish either! Thanks so much for watching, take care my friend and model on!! Johnny

Awesome work!👍🏻👍🏻 I absolutely loved our M113. Even though I was a Tanker in a M1a2 Abrams. When we were done for the night training, everyone knew where to find me. I’d sleep inside or on the top of our only M113. It was more comfortable sleeping in it rather than on my Abrams.

Hi Jesse, I'm glad to hear that you enjoyed the build. It's funny how models can bring back memories and remind us of things we haven't thought about for a long time. I was a mechanic in the army, so I spent a lot of time working on vehicles like the M113, which I will say was one of the easiest ones to work on. Take care and model on my friend. Johnny

Inconspicuous spot!!! Hahahaha! Good one! As i said there's a wrong way, there's a right way and there's your way of doing stuff (about the wet pallet). A wonderful project came to its completion, if you ask me Johnny, your figure painting is good enough and you should do more of them. I really like how the m113 came out and i enjoyed the series of it. Looking forward to see what you'll tackle next. Thanks for sharing, take care and keep up the good work my friend.

Hi Shannon, you can't go wrong with Tamiya! I did choose to use aftermarket tracks rather than those rubber band still that comes with the kit, I did have to modify the drive sprockets to get them to fit, but I think the overall effect was worth it. Have fun with your build, take care and model on my friend! Johnny

I love the M113 Armoured Personal carrier, especially since I drove one around Germany doing time with the 3rd infantry division in the 70s, I've been watching model kit videos for years on KZbin, and never was a M113 APC on here, so thank you for the video, now of course there all over KZbin

''Night Shift'' has a good method for painting figures.
@hillbillymodeling
@hillbillymodeling Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the tip Tim! I've tried his method, but it would seem that I don't quite have the touch with so many different shades. I find that mine always comes out looking splotchy unlike his which has a smooth gradient transition from dark to light. Sprues and Brews also uses that method, but between the two I still don't know what little secret I'm missing. Thanks for watching. Johnny

Great build! I always learn a new trick or two with ever one of your builds. Crazy question,What do you do with your boxes after you finish a kit? I can't bring myself to throw them away,
@hillbillymodeling
@hillbillymodeling Жыл бұрын
Good question Al! Like you I have a hard time throwing out the box. The box bottoms come in handy as spray booth liners, but for the box art covers, I take the corners apart and flatten them. I keep entertaining the thought that one day I might frame some of them, lol. Thanks for watching, take care. Johnny

Outstanding build, got 1 of these myself, is there any bad points I need to look out for,🇺🇸🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿
@hillbillymodeling

Hi Clive, one issue is that Tamiya molded the catch and cable for the large rectangle roof hatch on the hinge end which should be on the other end, and I had a small clearance problem with the fan shroud that is attached to the underside of the engine deck. I needed to move mine inboard about 0.5 mm. The rest of the kit is great. I hope you enjoy building yours. Take care. Johnny

Uncle Johnny I forgot to tell you, it's much easier to add the slings to weapons before adding it to the figure/s. Great job by the way! I'm going to pick this kit up next time I'm in the shop.
