We, on this universe, have been so blessed to be able to see nature at it's finest. This isn't a typical birds nest. Most baby birds, eat, fledge, leave the nest and go on to make their own lives free of the parent bird. That 22 has stuck around (21 is long gone) and that Dad M15 continues to bring food to a full grown eagle is beyond most other instances. But, IT'S GLORIOUS and we have been so blessed to watch 22 go through all the angst of being hungry, forced to fledge, etc etc. and Dad stuck right there. Whom ever said it, said it best. M15 Dad of the year. Thank you all who have made watching this possible.

No wonder we are seeing a bit less of the mockingbird. Dad seems to be running interference for E22. Once Dad showed his open beak to the mockingbird, its interference seemed to stop. That should give E22 space to also resume hunting lessons.

That is highly likely. The last two years a pair of bald eagles has raised three eaglets to fledging on the lake where I live. Last year their nest got destroyed in a storm in mid August. I fish a lot, like almost every day, and saw those fledglings flying, fishing, and perched in trees all around the lake and even miles up the creeks that feed the lake, sometimes with a mature eagle nearby which I presumed was one of their parents. The state stocks those feeder creeks with trout so they’re easy pickings for young eagles learning to fish.

​@@1500-j6v I would think that Eagles are like other birds and that if a fledgling falls out of a nest, it starts calling and the parents find it feed and take care of it as long as needed. I would think M15 did this with E21, but I don't really know I guess. But I still swear E21 has showed up. There are unmistakable differences in the feathers...white patches. This is definitely E22...Squee❤❤

Hi Lalaine there is no need for any human intervention on the nest. M15 is THE master nest builder and he and Harriet built this nest from scratch after the hurricane in just 2-3 weeks time. He will be ready to start renovations in the Fall and hopefully with a new female to help him!

The nest in the preserve near me was destroyed by Hurricane Ian last year after being used for a long time by a mated pair of eagles. The eagles returned late in the year and built a new nest in the same tree, which is a dead tree that's one of the tallest in the preserve. It's a perfect location for a nest and a great tree for the young eagles when they learned to venture out onto branches and take their first flights. Both young eagles fledged and have now more or less moved to new locations, although at least one of them occasionally returns to the tree. Hopefully we won't have any hurricanes or strong tropical storms this year, but if we do we know the eagles can build a new nest.

I just wanted to share 2 days prior to National Endangered Species Day 19 May 2023, California was granted Emergency approval and use of the Avian Bird Flu vaccinations to be administered to the remaining California Condors in the wild and reintroduction programs. These rescuers are once again corralling up the wild critically Endangered Species of these Birdies, just like they did in 1987. (History does in fact repeats itself). I had trouble this AM trying to clip a 25 second News report! LoL 🤫 Also although I made a post to BBV's FOBBV, they denied it saying "not staying on topic of BBV's area and Jackie and Shadow, while having too much fun". WHATEVER! So later I was skimming thru an article of the Avian Parasite found in Band-Tailed Pigeons (who migrate are highly susceptible to Avian Thricomonous), CDWS Health Laboratory stated that hundreds of infectious/death of these birdies has certainly swept in the counties of LA, & Orange heading due to East. And that water sources that are shared with water fowl, Avian Predators (Raptors and/or Vultures are highly susceptible as well). (Last I checked since I'm a Native Inland Empire gal, the next county due East is San Bernardino, which BBV was my stomping grounds. Cali had made a video of J & S's nest with a BTP (a native bird to California) was on the front porch... So I'm dumbfounded that "How could this epidemic not be a reality possible threat that'll be affecting BBV's area as well? I wanted to reply back which I will on the Q&A post, "I'm sorry, didn't realize that J & S are completely already immuned to this deadly virus"! Can you Believe that? Have you seen any BTP's on any of the nests you follow? TY gotta watch interactions of Papa M and E22!

So beautiful to see M15 and E22. Pesky mocking bird. Is there a nest near by that the mocking bird is protecting? Hopefully E22 will become a great hunter like his dad. Nature is truly wonderful. I hope E15 is also helping E21. Such majestic animals.
