I think the thing that always gets me is how Rundas is the only one of the hunters to never say a word to Samus post-corruption. Ghor and Gandrayda taunt Samus, but Rundas remained silent. Almost like he hadn't fully given into the corruption. Which makes this song and moment all that more heart wrenching

It was like he was on a rampage! Attacking everything what got in his sight! ... Thats why Rundas wasnt fully corrupted! Gandrayda killed (disguised as Marine) Pirates as well yes, BUT only to make it more believable, that the Marine S.O.S call were real, to get Samus falling for her bait! ... At the end, everyone can see it how he wants, because its only stated by logic! ... But nothing was confirmed that he wasnt fully corrupted... just his behavior gave us a big hint! Just sayin ^^

He was possessed directly by Dark Samus though, the others were only corrupted by her energy, yet they were fully corrupted, he wasn't. That's why he was able to resist long enough to help Samus. Even then, as Samus won, you saw him regain his senses before Dark Samus impaled him and took his essence.

This should have been the final hunter encounter. You see all the people you held close one way or another fall to the corruption. With Gandrayda falling first, and Rundas, your closest friend, falling last. You meet him, and your heart is broken as you face the grim realization that he is already lost. And now you are going to put him down. You have to, or else he will put you down instead. With your final goodbyes to your former comrade, you set out to end this brutal war once and for all. You set off for planet Phaze.

From a progression perspective, a fight that test you in multiple ways makes sense as an endgame boss and having a shapeshifter character is a perfect fit for such a fight. She literally becomes the other two hunters within the boss fight so it makes sense to put them all together only after you've seen each of them before. I agree that there would be more emotional impact to finishing things with Rundas, but mechanically, Gandrayda makes the most sense as the final hunter you face.

manofbedrock YT I did like it, actually. I just like the good old totally-not-Tallon-IV and totally-not-Cloud-City planets more because of their scenery, lore and variety of events. =) Pirate Homeworld is a different beast. It reminds me of Phazon Mines from Prime 1 because of its labyrinthic, claustrophobic feel. Oh, and I adore Sanctuary Fortress, too. The whole place is probably the most original setting seen in a Metroid game!

Did you know? You need to scan Rundas more than once in his battle if you want to get 100% completion on the game. Well, I didn't...fml

I'm not actually sure of this, because I know that at least in Metroid Prime 2, not every thing you can scan counts as %. Only the things that go into the Logbook (that's the name of the scan thing right?) do count. I noticed this when I got an Missile Expansion after a playthrough, got the message that I collected and scanned 100% of the game, and right at the side of said Missile Expasion was something I didn't scan, but it was just "This gate cannot be deactivated by this side" or something like that.

You can scan bosses at different phases for more information, but it won't add to your logbook if you already scanned it. So you can scan Rundas once for his entry, and then again if you need to know what to do next in the fight. Aside from that though, I'm fairly certain all the Hunters' log entries can be found in a data room on Norion in case you miss them in the boss fights. Other bosses might have you out of luck if you miss them in battle though.

The PSTD freakout would have been more believable if it was mentioned in game or suggested somewhere along the time. The only place where the PSTD is mentioned is in an old Metroid magna that never left Japan. But by Other M it was so out of place, that scene should have been either covered in Zero mission or in a flashback when she was still in Adam's squad. Not after killing the guy four times already all in VERY brutal ways.

even back to zero mission it would still feels out of place, i mean, yeah she freaked out in the manga, but the point of the battle was so she could overcome her trauma, and she does, also, in the manga she leaves the federation because they were holding her powers back, not becouse of the abuse other m sugests. overall in other m samus was berely an entity, not to say that she was a very weak one in that game.

I think people hate it more because the controls suck like every game that has tried to use motion controls, there were no healing items, and Samus went from a badass destroyer of worlds that makes space pirates, eldritch horrors, and even the corruption itself run in terror at the mere sight of her, into Anakin Skywalker!

Very cool fight and theme, but I just can’t help but be incredibly disappointed with how Rundas and the other hunters are handled. There is not enough groundwork laid for the emotional impact they want. You do not get the impression that Rundas and Samus have some connection beyond a mutual respect from the intro. Definitely would’ve like for the characters to have some more time to stick around and have more consequences on the story instead of being handled so quickly.
