Is the definition you made for the comparison of vectors which is "(x,y) ≥ (u,v) if and only if x ≥ u and y ≥ v" just an assumption that you made for this problem in order to disprove completeness? Or is that something accepted/implied as true in general? Thanks!

He proposed the definition for this example (and he and any person can do it when wanted or desired). The alternatives in R^2 are just points in the plane and in general, you cannot compare two points in R^2.
