On my 2020 STI I upgraded the rotors to the super light GiroDisc 2-piece floating rotors. They were 5 pounds lighter than the oem rotors. Man I could really tell that reduced unsprung weight. In combination with my Method wheels I lost almost 17 pounds per corner.
@Autofreakgarage4 жыл бұрын
I contemplated those rotors, but rationalized myself into realizing it would be overkill for my application. They are beautiful though.

Did you use the 5.0 pads with those rotors or did you go with a different pad? I just ordered the girodisc rotors. So need to order some pads. Thanks for any insight.

Just installed hawk ceramic street pads and centric rotors on my 2018 sti. i purchased from subiemods i had no choice in rotors because of supply issues not even brembo had the parts! Been whipping it around and i did the bedding process a little more aggressive then they recommend, no squealing or noise the pedal feels good but i feel like the OG Brembo stopped way better. We will see within the next few months

any updates?
@malan828 Жыл бұрын
@@burnoutsarecool yea, so when you first use the brakes they do not grip as well cold but once you warm them up they do ok, but that aggressive bite you would get when just tapping the brake with OEM is non existent even when they get warm. Did notice some noise last week when it was raining non stop it went away soon as the weather got warm! Brake dust on these turns to rust i notice a layer of rust “dust” on ny rims (can’t explain it any other way) even the rotors rust quick. I live in Detroit, Michigan and i never track the car.. for a everyday basic brake pad i think its good but if you want more aggressive then go with something else. Hope this helps

@@malan828substantial upgrade / downgrade compared to OEM? thank you for the review it helped!
@malan828 Жыл бұрын
@@burnoutsarecool my opinion is they are a downgrade and honestly i basically daily drive the car so its what i need for my setup the main complaint is the fact they need to be warmed up and the brake dust it rusty

I ended up going the same route with the pads. Can’t wait to hear your review after installation

So I bought these same exact pads and immediately bed the brakes now a 100 mileish later my brakes squeak coming to a stop any tips ? Haven’t washed the car ever since changing the brakes ? And also I know your not big into high gloss for tires any brand you would recommend that are high gloss ?
@Autofreakgarage3 жыл бұрын
If they are still making noise, it still needs more bedding. There’s no set amount of time for every pad. Some take longer than others. I haven’t tried any higher gloss products as I never preferred that look. But I am sure something like meguiers or mothers from autozone will have something like that.

Ok so i have to ask, what's your thoughts of the new 2022 BRZ?
@Autofreakgarage4 жыл бұрын
The brz isn’t really my kind of car. Never really was. BUT! I will comment. First thing was I was disappointed to hear it wasn’t turbo’d. However, there are a lot of good things that make me believe Subaru is headed in the right direction with their performance line. The brz has proper Michelin tires, over the 200hp mark, better weight ratio’s. I think it’s going to be a hell of a fun track car.
@Oldschool5034 жыл бұрын
@@Autofreakgarage Ya, i can't wait to drive one, do wish it had a turbo though.
@Autofreakgarage4 жыл бұрын
If they did a turbo version, it would destroy the STI. That is most likely why they didn’t do it. However, definitely leaves the door open for an STI variant down the road.

@@Autofreakgarage Still waiting for the new Toyota GR 86. Fingers crossed it will have a turbo, but not holding my breath. I did own a 2015 FRS and still miss that car. I might have to budget for a project car.

Do I have to bleed the brakes if I change the pads them selves ?
@Autofreakgarage3 жыл бұрын
You do not need to bleed the system, but you do need to bed the new pads into the rotors.
