Black Ops 2 pretty much made the foundation for Black Ops 3 with Origins. So, in a way it does connect to the other Black Ops games but not by much. Black Ops 3 pretty much almost explained everything about the lore.

Battlefield players always will, and always have complained. If we didn't, the BF series would be far worse than it is now. Here's a complaint from someone who has been playing battlefield for years: BF1 is an easy, casual and boring game. 75℅ of people who play wouldn't know how to play if a tutorial hit them in the face whilst they were being penetrated anally by a "best guns" video.

now the campaign may be disappointing, I agree, but the main focus on the entire BO3 life-cycle was mostly around zombies. The first map, Shadows of Evil was a perfect map for a free one, it had something constantly to do, a good easter egg, and a good plot twist at the end of said easter egg, and this continues on in the first dlc map, Der Eisendrache, where you play as the gen 2 versions of the main heroes, continued off of origins. This started a whole easter egg chain ending in revelations, yet....the EE cutscene was overall disappointing in the end for a finale......we made something great though, as a community. We managed to get Treyarch to give us a remastered version of classic maps like Kino der Toten...or the final dlc of BO2, origins. overall the BO3 Zombies community were more hyped for the zombies campaign on the release date of BO3, and the campaign may seem like a misdirection they made it up in the zombies campaign, a finale of years of zombies starting at the 4th COD game, COD WaW.
