You don’t need to “side load” anything, you just install it as you would on windows? Only iOS and iPadOS is locked down to the App Store, the Mac isn’t and never was.

I started on Windows 98 or XP and switched to Mac around 2015.. It may take you a month to get used to it, but it pays. Also, be aware: there’s no going back 🍎
