Not really sure why I want to make a head cannon for this but I do- sooo enjoy I guess 😅 Zhongli is a busy man, especially when it comes to work. He always comes home late, he’s always tired, he’s almost never with you and he doesn’t give you much attention because he’s busy and tired. But one night you decided to stay up and wait for him to come home. You ended up falling asleep but then woke up to the sound of the door opening and closing. You wearily got up to meet you’re husband/boyfriend.. Zhongli. Zhongli said to you “You should be asleep by now, it’s almost midnight.” You responded.. “I-I was waiting for you to get back from work..” you said trying not to fall back asleep. Zhongli sighed, he decided to pick you up *(you can use your imagination on how he pick you up)* and takes you to the bedroom. Zhongli carefully placed your so delicate body on the bed and put the blanket over you. He then proceeded to take a quick shower *(if you don’t want him to take a shower and you just want him to crawl into bed with you that’s fine as well)* After Zhongli took a shower and put clothes on he walked to the bedroom where you were happily sleeping, amd crawled into bed with you. You turned around to face him and quickly buried your head in his chest. Zhongli let out a fast little gasp because he wasn’t expecting you to do what you just did. You then proceeded to intertwine your leg’s with his. Zhongli.. liked this. You said to yourself “S-so warm..” with a pleased look on your face. Zhongli wrapped his arms around you, your head under his chin buried in his chest, your leg’s intertwined with each others. “It couldn’t be more perfect.” You thought. Sooner or later you both fell asleep in each others arms… AHH I did it!! You had moved to curl up in the cabinet under the sink, snuffling and crying into your knees. “Baobei, love….” Maybe terms of endearment would work? You looked up at him, eyes glassy and pupils slits, clearly still in fight or flight. He sat down, curling his tail around his legs and relaxing his body, a sign of submission. Here, he made it clear he was not there to bring you any harm. “I gathered a blanket. I believe it is to favorite, correct?” He asks as he shows you the blanket, and your little ears perk with interest, as you nod. He pays his thighs, and smiles. “Come here Baobei, I will keep you safe.” He said, his voice like smooth riverstone. He curled up beside you, tails intertwined as he held you against his chest after you both went to the bedroom. The thrum of Geo energy pulsates through his veins, providing a warmth and homely feeling, and his voice was calm as he ranted about his work. He chuckled when he heard your quiet snores, finally giving you the rest you deserved, and he pressed a kiss to your scalp, scritching your hair as he whispered: “You’ve done so well Baobei, I’m proud of you…”

Zhongli quickly caught you, carried you to the picnic blanket and laid your head down on his lap, softly stroking your hair. You started to open your eyes after about five minutes, confused as to what just happened. “What happened?” You asked softly. “You fainted, love.” Zhongli replied. You sat up, and drank some water. You had fainted because you were dehydrated. You and Zhongli decided to continue with your picnic, and talked with Zhongli for hours. “I haven’t been completely honest with you, Zhongli.” You said in a sullen tone “What do you mean, gorgeous?” Zhongli replied. “I’m a hybrid dragon. A third of a dragon, a third of a human, and a third of a mermaid.” You told him. “You think that would make me love you any less? I don’t care what you are, I will love you no matter what.” Zhongli said to you with the most passionate look in his eyes. “I want to give you the whole world, what you want, what you need, and what you deserve. You deserve so much, and most days I feel like I cannot give it to you.” Zhongli said to you, with a slight smile on his face. He stood up, took your hand and danced with you for a little bit. “Love, you’re the most gorgeous, courteous, courageous, fantastic person I’ve ever met. You can make my wildest dreams and fantasies come true.” Zhongli said as he reached for something in his pocket. At this point now, Zhongli has your left hand in his right, and he is down on one knee. “Darling, you are the best thing that’s ever happened to me, I cannot live without you. You’ve been there to support and cherish me for so long, even before we started dating.” Zhongli said as he watched your eyes fill with tears of joy. “Will you marry me?” Zhongli asked as gigantic fireworks set off into the starry night sky, and pulled out a box with a diamond ring, with the diamond shaped like a dragon’s egg. “Yes! Yes, of course I will!!” You said with tears of pure joy and happiness streaming down your face, you’ve just gotten engaged! Zhongli puts the ring on your finger. You throw yourself into his arms, hugging him. He then grabs you by your waist, lifts your chin up, and kisses you passionately. Zhongli grabs a blanket, wraps it around the two of you, and wraps his arm around you as well. He takes his other hand and holds yours as you bury your head into his chest while you fall asleep, knowing that you will have someone who will always love and cherish you, no matter what.
