M4A3 Sherman fighting in the Pacific front. - Part 1 - 1/35 Tamiya - Tank Model - [ model building ]

This time it is set as M4A3 Sherman fighting in the Pacific front. The side of the vehicle is equipped with a wooden protective plate to prevent the Japanese military's magnetic adsorption mine, and a side skirt is also equipped under it. This time, the skirt is made of steel instead of wood. Sandbags were also piled up on the rear deck, and they were specially placed as front armor. By the way, there are two rudimentary mistakes in this modeling. One is that the direction of the track on one side is reversed. So where's the other mistake? Look for it. You may enjoy it as a mistake-finding video. Please take your time and look at it.

今回は太平洋戦線で戦うM4A3シャーマンという設定です。車体側面には日本軍の磁気吸着地雷を防ぐ為の木製の防護板を備え、その下にはサイドスカートを装備します。今回は木製ではなく鋼板製のスカートとしました。リアデッキにも土嚢が積まれ、特別にフロントアーマーとしても土嚢を乗せました。ところで今回のモデリングには初歩的なミスが二つあります。一つは片側の履帯の向きが逆。ではもう一つは、さて何処でしょうか？ 探してみてください。間違い探し動画としても楽しめるかも知れません。ゆっくりとご覧ください。

We called the 3/4” plating “hillbilly armor” and the unit mechanics typically installed it. In the age of up-armor, it’s rare to see it. Also, even though most combat vehicles have up-armored cabs, some people still line the floors with sandbags to help absorb some impact from IEDs.

Great scratch work on the side woodwork and sandbags , just surprised u didn't scratch build sponson covers. I know w/ the sides buildup you'll say no one can see but w/ the hatches open u can see the light shine through. One thing I hate about this kit

Pretty sure, its same thing as you said about wooden side, it also same effective protection against magentic mines, i think you should search "Sherman with Sandbag" there's much answer you'll need. There are several protective for tanks: Space armor aka side skirt tank armor Spare tracks/roadwheels Sandbags concrete armor Logs etc, anything that can prevent against tank shells, magentic mines and other.

Very nice, but the right track needs turning round, the block chevrons need to face down, like the left track. I have built and converted several sherman tanks to Pacific theatre versions, very interesting subject. I did one with hundreds of 1mm holes drilled and little bits of wire glued in around the hatches, ect, to represent the penny nails crew men welded on. It's time-consuming but definitely worth it. Looking forward to seeing this painted up. 👍🏻

I can understand extra protection from. Artillery but they were islander hopping and the extra stowage would made tank over heat especially tropical conditions. Nice build though.

Все как всегда круто и на высшем уровне,жду покраску. Но насколько я знаю М4А3 не использовались в корпусе морской пехоты США,а были М4А2,поскольку у морской пехоты был доступ к дизельному топливу. А на М4А3 был бензине,и на тихом океане по каким то причинам не особо любили. Поправьте меня если я не прав. И потому в моей голове вопрос ,почему взяли М4а3 а не М4а2?)

Yes and no. That was my initial reaction -- why hasn't Tamiya released an M4A2? But much of the heavy Pacific fighting involved the Army and the M4A3 was standard issue for Army armour units.

Question what drill did you use and what copper wire did you use also what wire did you use for around the turret? And the copper for the helmets and bags?

The drill is a pin vise with a diameter of 1 mm. The turret uses 0.3mm copper wire, and the helmet and bag use cut 0.1-thick copper plates.🍉🍉🍉
