It’s the ideal engine to swap in I’d say. My 525i wagon chirps the tires from 1-2 at least! And with a 3.23 LSD 100% poly bushings everywhere and GC coils probably helps with my power delivery

watching that POV made me feel happy because i want this feeling on my E30 again, ripping canyon corners and such in it. an M50 swap may be the way to go for an ideal setup. I lowkey want the M60 because its a V8 and its cool but it would destroy the perfection of the E30's handling and weight, all for a cool sound and a 60 horsepower difference and slightly less cost on the engine. cant wait to get into this swap then

I don't know if the weight and balance differece would be too much. M50 is a long iron block while M50 is full aluminum and shorter.

Would destroy the handling ? The m60 is only 20kg heavier then the 190kg m50. Basically you have a weight change of less than 2% in your car.

Search up 325is South African spec when you have the time. We never got the e30 m3 here in SA so the 325is was built differently and very powerful for our market.

I would like to see what you see when you're driving, and I will love it if the sound is high quality stereo. I am watching this video because I've also got a four door with the same swap. I can't always afford to go driving, but I do still enjoy the experience by watching videos like this. I have a limited slip diff (3.45:1) out of an old 7 series and it transformed the ride. I do not do burnouts or drift, that will just be nasty and stupid. I am busy installing a modified M65 supercharger from a kompressor Mercedes, and I can't wait to feel the improvement. I am looking for at least M3 performance levels on a shoestring budget. PS: mine was close to being crushed when I got it and every day I am thankful that it could be saved.

First that car is noisy, the exhaust set up is loud but not sweet.The interior rattling can be checked ,just have time and fix loose interior parts but i have kept up with e46 M3.You can outrun the e36 m3 with a zf 310 trans with FD of 3.25.You can still do with a G260 and 3.46 final drive, that set up is crazy but i am returning to zf 310 with 3.73,,that set up is quick and still pulls in redline and quite powerful on the highways.Non vanos are high revving engines than the vanos variant.The rattle in drive line is from your release bearing, they break quickly on these cars.

Very nice, i just got an e30 with the m50 already in it, but the bottom end crank is from a 3.0 x5 the car is a monster other then modern v8 or a turbo v6 i can keep up with everything else😂

I feel I'm in the same mind as you. I plan on m5x swapping my m42 soon, but I feel I should save more and s50/52 instead. I'm sure the displacement difference from my 1.8 is night and day, but the S series just feels better. And they're hard to find over M5x

Yeah even an M50 will feel insane compared to the 1.8, but if you can definitely shoot for S5x

Wouldn't an M54B30 (330ci E46) stroker kit be cheaper for M50s than a full M3 engine?? You'd be almost at the same bhp as the US M3s then. All that's needed is crank, rods, pistons, and maybe a cam if you really want every bit of horsepower out of the stroker.

Hate to say it but there's not enough resources here unless you know or are friends with a specialized mechanic. Ordering the parts overseas would increase the cost of the build 2-fold, it's why you see people trying to sell their modified E30's for insane prices on Carsales, they're trying to get a return on a build that cost way too much. I'll probably cave in and buy an E36 325i before they go up in price and restore the E30 and keep it original for the next 2 years.@@jarydmustafa2067

For countries like mine (Greece) is not worth that swap, unless you make it legal. Road taxes here are depending on engine displacement. For a 2500cc engines you should pay almost 1000€ every year. On the other hand, if you swap to a big engine without make it legal, police can take your vehicle. Also you ll have big problem if any accident happen (especially if its fatal) and also you'll have problems at vehicles safety inspection. Swapped some years ago to an M50 and police stopped me for just a check. They heard the 6 cylinder melody ❤ and saw at the vehicle's papers that is was just a 1600cc 😂 they fined me 1000€ and told that if they see me around again, they'll take my vehicle. So no, it's not worth for me. Currently swapping to a turboed M40, more powerful than NA M50, lighter, cheaper and legal. Cheers!
