For once they dont instantly take out the " poking screwdriver" to hunt for rust holes in a 90s BMW. Many E36 are rotten away, many E39 are only still good because people look after them more...

Thought is it illegal two retrofit bi-xenon. Would love to hear what the tuv inspector reallay said to this one. From my understanding it's completly illegal to change anything in the headlights, including the projectors, even if you don't use the bi-xenon function.

@@christeranttila9927 in my limited experience, i went to a comparison portal, entered the requested vehicle data, and got a quote based on the estimated value. The most important thing is that it keeps us e39 owners inspired to overcome challenges of bringing our bimmers back to life and keeping them in good condition. Because their numbers are going down every year, and sometimes I drive for weeks before I see another e39, and even then most of them are saloons as opposed to my touring.

It really is fun watching you go through old bimmers, in a way... I'm envious, not just of the cars you have, but... your willingness to work and put in time, as I struggle with ADHD, I can't even do proper maintenance of myself, let alone my car, so it's in a way inspiring to watch you work, I can only hope you'll trigger my hyperfocus some day, and suddenly I'll attack my old Opel and give it the care it deserves. I also just have love for older BMW, somewhat affected by having a friend who is obsessed with them, and love them so much he doesn't care that he spent like €2000 on just his exhaust for his E30 325i, he's had that car for at least 15 years now, never driven in winter, and it always looks super clean, and his daily also looks super clean despite being used in winter, an E61 530D, but he also got into motorcycles after driving his dad's old Suzuki, so when he got his own bike... obviously a BMW motorcycle, as he saw the model he got used in a James Bond movie jumping over a helicopter. :P But yeah... that guy kinda affected me, so I have a weak spot for BMW despite never having owned one myself, probably why I ended up on this channel too, seeing an old BMW being quite lovingly (or angrily in some cases) restored, and kinda wish I was able to function like that... maybe I'd not have had to get rid of some cars I really miss, due to my inability to care for them. (mental illness fucking sucks as a car enthusiast...)

You say that it’s too nice to drive. I’ve never understood this sentiment. We make cars beautiful so that they can be enjoyed and driven. Cars are meant to be on the road, and unfortunately are at risk from this in so many ways. But it’s the gathering of pictures, places visited, moments with loved ones on wonderful trips, from long vacations, to a midnight coffee or burger & fries run (you can make it vegan if you wish), that build beautiful memories with that car… that loves to be driven. Yeah, I’m anthropomorphizing a machine, but all the little things cars ‘tell you’ along the way are fun to think that the car reminds you to fix or maintain something it needs, along with its hope to discover new places. GO DRIVE!!
