Good condition ones cost a fortune, and you really can’t be 100% sure that it was maintained well by previous owner. Some expensive ones are really just a sh** in a golden wrapper. @sdagoesproАй бұрын
@@tadam6257 yes, it's only possible because a supercharger is linked to the engine speed all the time, so it will gradually build boost not like a turbo that cann have full boost at eg. 2000rpm So the stress on those components is much less. @@tadam6257 the m54b30 already came with a forged crankshaft and forged rods which are really sturdy. as for longevity, its not one of those engines that breaks catastrophically so it could basically last forever. that said this engine has lots of little things and some big things like rod bearings and piston rings which owners should keep an eye on. you can fix those and refurbish the motor almost as good as new in most cases but it can be expensive.

6:10 Gale Banks has an excellent video on this. The real question is how much AIR DENSITY can you cram into the runners and cylinders, NOT how much boost. Ideal gas law tells us that pressure and temperature are directly proportional. If we double the boost pressure, but the temperature also doubles, we have gained ZERO oxygen density! We have to increase the pressure while keeping temperatures down. Small edit: this is all operating under absolute pressure. Atmospheric pressure is approximately 14.7psi or 1 bar. Doubling the absolute pressure would mean 29.4 psi or 2 bar.
@spacepxlАй бұрын
If you double the air temperature in kelvin, not celsius. And same deal with boost pressure, normally what's reported is pressure relative to atmosphere, but you would need to double the absolute pressure to double the air density. So NA -> 15 psi will roughly double your power (assuming equal temperature), and to double again you would need ~45 psi boost.
@Petrolhead9999928 күн бұрын
@@spacepxl fahrenheit, kelvin, and celsius are all linear measures. You can do anything you want to them and still satisfy the ideal gas law. But yes, absolute pressure is critical, I'll make an edit.
