Khanya Ngonyama started investing in property in 2013. He started off without having a credit record at all and had to build one from scratch to qualify for a loan.
He uses a special strategy to buy units in a new development, where he partners with the government to build houses and he gets 55% of his costs back from the government. AND you do not need to be a big property developer to qualify for this! He stopped his retirement savings and used property as his ultimate retirement plan. He buys all his properties in a company for tax efficiency.

If I understand correctly once your property is paid off you can start to claim is that correct?, what if you own 5 new developments and you start paying them off one after the other can you claim capital for a property that is fully paid for whilst the other 4 are still being paid?

I've been strongly considering tapping in to this tax incentive, but require some clarity on one of the requirements. It states that; "The taxpayer must own at least five residential units. These units do not have to be purchased at the same time, although only once the 5th property has been acquired will the tax incentive come into play." The question is; to what extent is ownership implied here? I currently have bonds for 4 of my rental properties (all bought from new), and looking to acquire a 5th property to qualify for the tax incentive. Am I understanding correctly that I do not have to own the title deeds to these properties, and that I would still qualify for the incentive even if I have bonds for all of them?
