I discovered two biggest disadvantages: 1) total absence of ESD protection for I/O pins in comparison with Core2 and Basic. Let's see schematic diagram and compare it with Core2 and CoreBasic. This is an essential hardware design good practice is to have ESD protection at accessible GPIOs. I damaged my CoreS3 after 2 hours of playing/configuring GPIOs. MPU ESP32 is completely dead. At CoreBasic and Core2 there are traditional clamping diodes at all GPIOs. 2)M5stack CoreS3 is UIflow2.0 compatible only. Core2 and CoreBasic can be programed at both UIflow versions 1.0 and 2.0. The IDE UIflow2.0 still does not work as good as UIflow1.0 does. Many fucntions missing, help missing, modules&units missing. After a month of playing with CoreS3 I am really happy to going back to Core2 and UIflow1.0.

I bought a coreS2 a couple of months ago and it’s really great. I personally don’t use micro python nor the flow thing due to customization and performance. Too bad I didn’t wait to get this as this would be great for a doorbell camera that uses machine learning to see if it’s you to turn on lights of your house and unlock door and if not send a message of possible trouble 😎.

The RFID car is one of a series of custom designed RFID cards. Technically the S3 is NOT the 3rd gen Core but it is the 3rd Gen commercial Core. I did record a video last week but had to delete the footage due to an issue with my computer damaging the footage. UIFlow is not available yet because they were on the Japan tour.

you didn’t wait for the ROM burning to finish, it sits there at 100% then you get the green ok. You probably figured that out in 7mo.

That's kind of a chonky boy. Wasn't the older model more svelte? And S3's seem like a large downgrade over the regular ESP32. Considering the prices involved, they must be much cheaper to make over the full featured ESP32. Programming support is spotty as well. :/

@@dekipet It wasn't when I made that comment over a week ago. Software support still patchy and loads of stuff missing from the documantion. I'm sure it will improve but I don't like being a "guinea pig"

ESP32 is not a real micro, its trash anybody who building on Arduinos will agree with that. This thing is unreliable, it works until it doesn't.
