On Dan Wesson revolvers, my wife loves her 15, with barrel set, left to her by my mother. Covers everything from CC to hunting, or target shooting. Mom's were an anniversary gift from dad, the year I was born. Bought from another Marine, who needed cash for a car repair, after drinking his check away, with 10 days until the next payday. It and my uncle's 6 inch M 15, were the first. 357s I shot, and 12 years later, the first my wife shot. We introduced our daughter to handguns using it, my grandfather's 4 inch Python, and dad's 6 inch GP100. And she and her husband have my old Speed Six in stainless, and stainless Security Six, that I carried working for a security company.

@@saleemimalikimusawwirbey9029 Maybe, but not likely. You get stopped while armed, you keep your hands in sight, and listen to what the cop is telling you, and don't reach for anything that rke your hands out of their site. I've carried almost 24 years, and had quick cars and bikes. Been stopped while armed, many times. Haven't been shot by a cop once. Because I don't go reaching around in my vehicle, with an armed person outside it, who's job, by it's very nature, is a roll of the dice, with each car they pull over. My goal is for them to be at ease, dealing with me, and to go home to my family, alive, same for him or her. Had he asked to get out of the car, or for a senior officer, to come down, and take over, and kept his hands in sight, guess what. He'd still be alive today. It's also why I keep my wallet on the left, and my sidearm opposite the wallet, so I can say the gun is at position X, and my wallet is at position Y. May I reach to position Y with Z hand, and remove my wallet, to get my ID out? I also start with informing them Inam armed, weapon here, on my body. How would you like to proceed and handle this interaction officer? You are in charge, and I am listening. So both parties made mistakes. And most of those years were as a CCer in the anti 2A state of NY. Never got drawn on, much less shot. Wife didn't either in 10 years there, and 7 more in PA. On your comoarison, nit even close. I bought a first production Dan Wesson 715 back in November 1982 with a 4 inch and a 6 inch barrels with full lug. It has been 40 years and it is still going strong. I have also a first run Serial number 00395 Dan Wesson 445 Super mag with 6" and 8" barrels in stainless steel bought in 2002. All my other revolvers are S&S a M586 from 1992, a M29 from 1984 and M657 from 1995. These revolver are in perfect condition but they are not "safe queens", they get range time. The 41 Mag M657 is not made anymore, only in blue or nickel if you can find one. I hope they make another run but it may be a few years and only if shooters want them.

If viewers & ccw users were not aware; Smith and Wesson ended all production, sales of most Shield 1.0 pistols in .40, 9x19mm. I think they might crank out Shields in .45acp & PC versions but newer 2.0 guns might be standard by Aug 2021. S&W updated Shields & decided to quit factory runs of gen 1s gen 2s. The M&P pistol line started in 2005. The gen 2 or 2.0 9mm, .40, .45acp designs started about 2016, 2017. Big Blue cut .357sig pistols around 2015 or so. They still stamp .357sig on 15rd factory mags.

The CPD did what they had to do to save a life. Ma'Kiah called 911 and said that a females with a knife were threatening her. When CPD came on scene, they had NO idea who placed the call. Dispatcher tried to get a description but the phone call ended before that info came out. yankee, u're all over the place. focus, son :P ma'khia's past troubles and current family situation wouldn't have any bearing on how the police reacted to what they saw as soon as they arrived on the scene. so why bring it up? that just muddies the waters. the simple fact of the matter is--and i agree with u on this---is that the police had no choice but to react immediately to someone lunging at someone else with a knife. i also agree that we need to evaluate police behavior on a case-by-case basis, and in some--but certainly not all--of these high profile cases, i think the police acted appropriately. i'm a democrat, but i don't have a knee-jerk reaction of villifying the police every chance i get. in this particular case, the police reacting with deadly force to the situation they witnessed was justified. a tragedy due to the loss of a young life, but still justified.

the girl was clearly the agressor and the cop actually saved two other girls that day: if you watch the video you see a guy attacking the first girl when she was on the ground - and i very much doubt that he would havr stopped attacking her if there was no police present. however i blame mostly the girls parents for this. her total lack of acceptable options of ending an argument is proof for a bad upbringing IMO. problem is, we have no recordings of the argument in front of the house. maybe they argued over a car accidents with the dead girls family actually being the one being threatened and calling the police, wr dont know. but when the cops arrived the cop that shot her had just 11 seconds from his car to shooting to decide and he shot what he and all of us saw very clearly as armed aggressor.

Here's my take on incidents like this one. Let not even take the badge into account, and ask if a Civilian would have had justification, taking the shot. Can't speak for anyone else, but in my state, that was a clean, justified shoot, LE and civilian. We always concentrate on the badge, and that is the wrong way of looking at it. We concentrate on the person shot, and never on the person or people SAVED. That officer saved a young woman's life that day, maybe other lives. And she was thankful for it.

Crap ! in the UK cops without guns deal with knife crime every day, in this case you have killed a girl to avoid probably survivable stab wounds, and to make a paid peace officer keep away from nasty stabby things

I agree with almost everything you said about the Bryant shooting.... and this is only a side note and is not directly connected. Often, actually almost always, people talk about what a choir boy/girl the victim of the shoting was. It's usually at this point that others go...... REALLY. And then all the skeletons come out of the closet, so to speak. And I also agree that all this has nothing to do with the incident at the moment that it happened. It may have been a contributing factor as to why it happened, and most people do want to know WHY. In the end EVERYONE should stop jumping to conclusions, show a little patience and do a little research.

@Sigkim from what I understand there were other "issues" with this girl as well that should have sent up red flags. But really not what I was addressing. I was addressing exactly what you were saying about the people who knew the person, in this case Bryant, saying what a "wonderful" person they were. Trying to make them out to be saints. And that is the reason that the truth comes out... if they had a wrap sheet, or just other run ins with the law, maybe other problems (fighting, bullying or whatever). All this often has nothing to do with the situation at hand, as the cop didn't know any of this so it's not relevant to what he is seeing. It was a necessary shoot.

I’m a lib that also subs to you. Yesterday Twitter had me losing my mind. An attorney, PD, and YTer who I follow #natalielawyerchick on Twitter claimed Ma’khia was shot *in her home defending herself after the body cam video came out.* Then attacked me when I pointed out that the video didn’t show this. Told me the front yard was still her home and it didn’t make a difference. After some back-and-forth I asked if she was going to make a video with legal analysis on it. After all her tweets not only to me but others she suddenedly was tired and wasn’t sure. She had yet to make a video. I think it fair to say a lot have ideologues have shown themselves on both side of this and Chauvin.

@Sigkim And the same can be said about the right. As pointed out by TYM and myself. I invite you to take a look at the nonsensical discourse from the right on Chauvin particular their take on the jury. So I’m not sure why you feel sorry for me. Tons of people hold this or that political stand w/o being ideologues, but call out culture reigns supreme now.

@Sigkim “Calling it,” is not a rebuttal to the argument. Further you don’t know what callout culture means, or at the very least don’t understand the critique of it. Do some reading. web.archive.org/web/20131129003704/thenorthstar.info/?p=11299

@Sigkim I’ll also make on last point because I feel you are not arguing from good faith, and make no further replies. Using non-standard punctuation allows you to obfuscate an argument, or at the very least your comments incomprehensible. So I’m not entirely sure what you claim to be the “truth” or “right”.

Sometimes the police are right?? Millions of calls to police for help and like 95% of the time, they do the right thing and help people, same with police stoping cars..We should concentrate on why there are so many police stops and so many calls for help!!

A few years ago in Ohio a 17 broke into a combat veterans house and that 17 year old took a bullet to the face. We all make regretful choices. Even LeBron James made a death threat to a Police Officer on Twitter. I wouldn't be surprised if that cost him his career.

If she was the victim and called for the police then she should have run to the cop for protection, unarmed of course, and to tell her side of the story. IMHO of course.

I agree with you 100%. They had no respect for authority because when the cop came they should have stopped. No matter what problem i had with someone, if the police come through i will stop or probably wait till they leave to get back at that person. However in this situation, the tall guy threw someone on the ground and the girl took a knife and was going at the other one. There are things that we do we should know the consequences. Attacking someone with a knife in front of police officers could never hand up well. She made all the wrong decisions. The cop was there to serve and protect so he shot the perpetrator to protect the person who appeared to be the victim at that time. The officer was right. BTW I AM BLACK.

First yes the girl had a knife, second the cop didn't have to kill her, any one could dumped 20 rounds into her legs and cut her down, some of the shots might have missed but many would have hit bringing her down in seconds and ending the threat. The shots would have all been directed down so there would have been minimal collateral damage and yes the girl about to get cut might have gotten cut but she took that chance when she went to someone else house looking for a fight, it appeared to be two on one and the girl with the knife was defending her self and her castle. Don't give me the center mass training or happened to fast bs I've been in knife fights and could have knee capped the guys trying to stab me if I had a gun. This guy's gonna replay this every night till he dies because he made a bad decision, she was a 16 year old he was a trained grown man.

@@seanomeirs8362 Is it an adult male escaped convict or a little girl who's attacking her the adult male gets shot the little girl not so much I'd probably just grab her by the hair and sling her down.

@@jackwilliamson1929 I agree that if I were close enough to get between the attacker, and give my daughter time to get to safety, I wouldn't shoot. But I am a 6-2, 200+ lb. construction worker with martial arts skills. I would also be 100% confident that my daughter didn't deserve to be attacked, therefore if I had to kill someone to stop them, I wouldn't even feel bad about it.

The aggressor at the moment was the girl with the knife. If she had been my daughter, she would have dropped the knife, and run behind the Police Officer with her hands up. Last year I had a friend who was shot and killed by Police. She had been sober, for 25 years, but drank for the first time and got crazy. She was 5'-2", 100 lbs. She grabbed her double barrel shotgun and was walking around town. When the Police arrived, she fired both rounds into the air, and 4 officers shot her 15 times. I have imagined that I would have tackled her, but I wasn't there. Badge cams showed everything.

I think of this time where this man was seen being abusive to a woman, and bystanders started attacking him. What they didn't know is that she had stolen his wallet and he was trying to wrestle it back from her. Also, it's funny how age always factors in, like when I hear a reporting of things like "two children and one adult were apprehended" meaning a 16, 17, and an 18 year old. You can always count on any parent to say to the media that their child would never do anything criminal. And of course, just because of her age and gender there are going to be those that blindly proclaim "there's always another option aside from using a gun."
