Forehand flick is a difficult technique in table tennis. Unlike backhand flick, you need to open your racket then can't use a lot of wrist rotations. Today, we will learn Ma Long forehand flick by watching his training session in slow motion. His personal coach also asked him to make the "fake" direction of his shot. This will make this technique even tricky for the opponent. Do you want to try this technique in your daily table tennis?

His left-flick is wristy enough. The right-flick is more of a push.

Its an easy technique...just open the racket push it..except the ball hits the net all the time

Can you please explain how to use wrist movement in forehand topspin ? And also i would like to know whether chinese players use wrist movement in their forehand topspin

EmRatThich Table Tennis Coach Suddenly there are many player comments in the box. Which means this shot is a favorite amongst TT players. Thanks for covering it with exclusivity. One suggestion, if you could add a clip of match video, where ma long has used these shots. It would be an icing on the cake. Thanks once again for such great videos. My son is almost a regular and does not miss watching your videos.

EmRatThich Table Tennis Coach Look at the MA LONG workout on the most uncomfortable and poorly executed table tennis element against balls with a lower spin-UPPER FLOW RATE above the table-FOREHAHD FLICK / FLIP (FLICK European, FLIP American) is translated as FALSE, or EASY TO FIGHT. Since the height of the ball above the table is small and there is no way to fully work with a brush or a hand and the entire body. The coach asks to deceive Ma Long "FAKE" with the direction of the strike. During an impact with an outstretched hand, you need to perform a sharp forward-upward carousal movement reminiscent of the CLOUT , or SLAP (SMACK, SWAT, SPANK, PAT) or FLAP slap on ..., or a light blow on the water to spray a friend, with A slight upward surge, the commentator says LIFTING. Associations and shock analogies can each find their own, for understanding the impact. MA LONG is not an ideal FOREHAND FLICK technique and it rarely uses it in official tournaments against strongly clipped HARD BACKSPIN balls, but against light rotations and blocks, and when he can barely get the ball and there is no time to turn for topspin, this flick is effectively used by him. After setting the foot and blowing with his hand, some players make a micro-pause for a small push with the right foot to create a lifting. Strike the ball with a strong lower rotation is applied by an open racket for the ball for about 4 hours, i.e. The racket is even slightly tilted toward itself. MA LONG at the training in the beginning even tries to perform lift lifting gravity to the left leg and tearing the right of the floor. As if a small jump from the right foot to the left leg, with a simultaneous SLAP or FLAP on the ball. This blow can be called FLAP SLAP (flick on the right), unlike just FLICK "light blow", "kicker" on the left. I suggest also see other video slices for this element

Can you make a detailed video explaining "How to develop feeling" and also the multiball sequences and different exercises other than multiball to develop feeling in table tennis. It will be very helpful for amateur like us to know it in deep. Thank you

I'd like to see a video talking about Xu Xin's penhold FH flick. This might be a penhold only shot and he only uses this occasionally but he engages a lot of wrist in it much like a BH over the table flick. It looks like a trick shot almost but it's just the same concept as the BH flick. Just one with FH. If you've watch Xu Xin enough, you probably know what shot I'm talking about.
@pingsunday7 жыл бұрын
+Steve Soper yes. i know that shot. are you pendholder?
@SteveSoper19797 жыл бұрын
I am. Lefty penholder. I've experimented with the shot. It's similar to the reverse pendulum serve IMO. I like it vs backspin & sidespin. But if someone gives you some combination of topspin, you're best off simply countering through it like normal. Still, I think it's a shot worth exploring.

Nice tips, the forehand flick can be a very strong weapon in the right hands, as displayed by Tomokazu Harimoto recently. BTW, coach, you said left corner twice around 1:04, and around 4:34, I think you should have used "safe" instead of "security". And this "hitting the ball with the open racket" thing only applies when the incoming ball has backspin, right? Maybe this should be emphasized.
@ksojoel7 жыл бұрын
Victor Yanase it's also a strong weapon for left handers lol

Hi, ERT I'm watching you for a long time I think it has been a year now. I'm asking for a little advice about equipment, currently I have DHS hurricane 3 neo both bh and fh on a stiga classic all+ blade. I wanted to change the rubbers, but I don't know to which one. I really like the Chinese offensive style of play and also Chinese style rubbers based on my experience on hurricane 3 neo. Thanks in advance for help, great work, keep it up!

The minute you make contact with the ball you flick your wrist over the ball preferably you want to hit balls that are inside your body this is a Jimmy area's flick top spin

@-danR7 жыл бұрын
It should be noted that the fake-flicks to the right 4:12 aren't actual flicks-which formally speaking entail wrist-snap-but fast pushes, with hardly any topspin

tubeist- dan but he's hitting the ball not pushing.

tubeist- dan he is hitting the ball upwards so its not a push. I think push means a back-spin effect which is not the case
