His variation in speed, spin and placement crown him the king. His shots might be an inch closer to the white line than everyone else. That inch separate the best from the rest. Hope FZD can achieve that level of tactical details.

Yes. FZD is faster than ML, but he lacks the tactics and mental strength. That is what makes ML so fascinating. He has such a wide arsenal and varies it, until he finds the key to victory.

@@bennypan2007 , yes. It is very often that he looses the first sets, then fights for the nexts, and then just dominates the last set. It seems that he plays along, tries stuff out, watches his opponent, and then strikes when necessary. Against his Chinese teammates it is another thing, at least against the top three. They might know each other very well. Here he looses sometimes at lower tier tournaments, but seems to have the best nerves at important games. For me he is fascinating to watch, because he is not the strongest player when it comes to pure skill. I think, FZD and XX are better. But they can not win in important games 😄

He somehow developed something like the perfect table tennis. He is not the best in every regard of the game. Not the best backhand, not the best topspin, not the fastest player. But he has everything to such a high level, so that he can switch to any other weapon if he sees himself loosing on one regard. In that sense he is the best in strategy and adaptation. I find his games super fascinating. How often does he loose the first sets, just to dominate the last set and win the game?

i don't play that much but it seems to me (and i know i'm wrong) that the first point (the ace) is not that dificult to make but for some reason player don't try that serve often. Anyone knows why? Sorry about my english btw

While the serve is pretty easy to make if you do it safe, you have to do it fast and as deep as possible in the forehand, while believing your opponent goes around the corner, because of they don't they get an easy forehand shot

When you try to do that kind of serve you are taking a big risk. If you do not serve it fast, as deep as you can . you are giving opponent 95% of winning that point. Especially on this high level of play. that is why they do not serve it often.

You can win against Federer or Nadal in tennis or can defend against Messi, but you just can't beat Ma Long in table tennis. He is the most lethal player of all time in any sport. Shame that Table tennis is much underrated sports, or else his earnings would be equivalent to Messi or Federer.
