This is the closest match Dima has played against ML ever. He used to present no threat to ML at all. But in this match, he obviously put a great amount of pressure on ML. Great job! It just would not surprise me if one day Dima indeed beats ML

Dima played really promising, and even though I knew the result, there were moments in which I thought he could take it. What is really interesting is Ma Long's calmness. He didn't make a sound during the match. It feels like all that time he knew that he would eventually win that mach,

I think he was more about frustrated than calm. Although he had won the match, but from his facial expressions, you cud clearly see that he was discontent. There were several forehand moves he failed to catch, and several balls went down the net which I think it shouldnt happen (proabbly due to RNG) But he was frustrated not calm. It was more clearly shown in his match againdt xuxin

3:52 ITTF you really need to listen to the fans and give us more angles like this one. You can tell Dima really wanted to win (with extensive use of his Tomahawk serves!) but the dragon is just invincible from game 5

У Ма значительно больше тактических рисунков игры и потенциала в этом аспекте! Овчаров подбирал очки только на оплошностях Ма в заключительной части комбинации и изредка навязывал свою игру рефлексов ! Но, когда встречается Гений тенниса и просто рабочая лошадка, даже у которой есть огромная мотивация и желание победить, шансы есть только в случае 10 к 1 . Ма в 5 сете показал, как можно перевернуть тактику в игре с ног на голову и просто за счет позиции второго хода и шахматных действий спустить на 0 все усилия роботяги и просто старательного парня.! Не умиляя стараний и желаний Дмитрия победить, Ма всегда будет сильнее Дмитрия.

The trainingspartners make an huge difference. Ma can train with fan and his other teammates. I belive after one year of training with them Dima can keep up with them. He will geht used to speed and spin. Good Game from both players and Ma deserved to win.

That is the ability of a dictator. He knew when he needs to do micro adjustments when receiving serve from dima. Even though at the beginning he was having a hard time trying to figure out dima’s serve.

Dima made the mistake of using his tomahawk serve immediately in the 5th set after winning the 4th set 15-13 where he used the serve towards the end to a great effect. Ma Long got hang of the serve and took a huge lead in 5th.

I tend to not like Ovcharov's game mostly due to his bh push in the fh but he really fought well here and at least showed us a face of ML that we don't get to see at each game.

Ma long vs Xu xin in the final, really hope Xuxin can win this one, but it is going to be hard, looks like Ma long is in pretty good shape and Xu has not been really tested in the SF. What surprised me is how Fanzhendong losted to Dima, I thought he was fully recovered from last year's poor performance after win in the Marvelous 12. Maybe China should send Malong / Xuxin to Tokyo

Long ago I didn't enjoy as much as I enjoyed watching this game, Ma Long played as if he shot him from the mouth of a cannon, his tenacity, strength and fighting not to give up reminds him of his great days in 2015. A fantastic game also of Dimitri who really gave a show in the third act and especially in the fourth

Dima´s serves are good but i think they go long too many times. Sometimes he can make a 3-rd ball winning point, but often it gets countered by ML for a straight or follow-up point when they´re fast and long. Other than that, DO and ML both played rly great in this match.
