Great video! I’m a Bath resident and regular customer of Ma San, excellent family run business. Always very helpful and generous with their time and knowledge! Looking forward to one of the yellow vases in this great coming auction. 🐉

Thank you for the tips Peter, a great video again. I've bought from Ma San Auction a few times now and have been very pleased with the pieces shipped to me, they're a pleasure to deal with.

Thank you very much, Mr Peter. I already saved many Lots from this Ma San Auction, and yesterday you did a great job with your video and confirmed my intent to buy Lots with many items! In case, if auction wont be posting items to USA, I do collect items from the Auctions in and around London and send to my friends abroad, and Ma San Auction only 160 miles from me. All the best with your hard work and thank you again, Silver Jug.

I was watching the two sales at Bonhams NYC today. The results were solid, meaning the market for Chinese art works is still doing pretty well

Any buyers I would make sure to get extra photos and condition report, I find when you see many good items grouped together there is alot of unseen damage or they would sell per item and not as a lot. I hear you on the shipping, prices are all over the place, won a matchbox car from a Canada auction, quote for shipping was $127.00, for yes a matchbox car. I had to pass and not have it shipped, lost the $39 I won the car. Thank you for all the great videos Peter, I need to contact you and discuss your thoughts on a couple Asians items I have, that I want to find a loving home for. Thank you again ✌🏻💚🙏🏻

Great stuff! I read the contract, and they don't ship their on their own. They use a third party, so I'm s.o.l. for any damage during shipping. That, plus 20% commission, plus shipping costs makes it all kind of iffy. Just sayin"...

Just to let you know. I’ve bought lots multiple times at Ma San and they have always shipped to me in California at very reasonable cost compared to others. I checked their LiveAuctioneers sale terms and it clearly says they ship majority of items. If you check their reviews on LA, they are also top rated for shipping.

@@Eric-t3g Alright. I'll take your word on it. The online contract I read clearly stated they use a third party to ship. But I've set up an online account with Ma San. We'll see what happens.

Hard pass for me, Peter. Ma San knowingly sold me a fake "965-year old" Chinese Horse & Rider statue last year for $2,000 and (even after sending them your video assessment) they refused to refund my money and were extremely rude. You even gave them a 'C+' rating on the Bidamount Auction House Report Card. As an excuse for selling me a fake, Ma San said they purposely didn't state '965 years old' or 'Tang Dynasty' in the title, because they weren't sure about its age. But, they DID put '965-years-old' and 'Tang' in the description and uploaded a "TL Report" from Hong Kong to that effect. So, to me, that's desceptive advertising and a dishonest way to avoid responsibility and refunds. Alternatively, if they really didn't know that the piece was a bad fake, then I think they should not be in the business of selling Chinese antiques. So, I really hope perspective buyers exercise extreme caution if dealing with this auction house. Details on the fake piece for whomever is interested: On the original 'Chinese Horse & Rider' auction listing description, Ma San stated that the piece they sold me was "965 years old" and uploaded a "TL Report" from Hong Kong to that effect. Peter took a look at the piece after the sale and saw that it was clearly a "bad fake." He told me that, not only were the markings on the terracotta clay inside the horse inconsistent with erosion and fingerprints on real, 965-year-old Chinese figures, but the horse’s stance was inconsistent with figures made during that period (i. e., none have head down and swaying to the side) and the sculpting itself was wrong (i. e., the musculature in the horse’s legs were excessive and there was a giant crease in the rear). Also, no originals have riders like the one Ma San's had. Plus, the dating on the TL Report Ma San Auction provided was completely wrong. It stated the piece was Tang and 965 years old. However, 965 years ago is about 1060 AD, which is 100 years AFTER the Tang Dynasty ended in 907 AD.

@AsianArt-t2t I have been buying from masanauction for more than 3 years , I didn't have any issues with them , you get items how it's described, I looked carefully to the item that you mention and I can see that's its described as. A large Chinese painted pottery horse with a female rider, with TL test, and I spoke to them today about it , they have been in contact with you to provide you TL test on those cost but you refused.
