This is basically an affordable inverted table router. Locking it off to do (blind?) rebates or bulk mortises is a great idea. Slowing it back down to normal, I saw a little flex, but seemed within spec for the design and cost. They minimise it by pulling rather than pushing the router. I was more worried about routing right over and through the wedge 6:19 which could have got exciting. I think it's a great design for what it does - being able to adjust the runner tension and pack the entire thing away to use the table unimpeded shows they're really thinking this through, not just slapping this together. Congrats, MA-SH.

Really great video, I have a somewhat similar design to yours but inverted and using 14gauge rollformed channel like unistrut, the idea is the lip of the channel curls in and you can use it to retain roller bearings in sets of 2 (more sets of rollers more theoretical stability laterally and vertically) and connect them via plate with bolts and spacers like the "unistrut trolley" hoist/transfer guides. It is usually galvanized so it wont rust as quickly (careful welding), it is fairly expensive depending in where you get it but it is used contantly in factories and other industrial applications to hold together fairly heavy conveyors to ceiling tile suspension frames to catwalks to... Let me know if you wanted more details I can even take some pics of my work in progress, keep up the good work and I can't wait to see what else you're cookin. 🥇❤

you made a multipurpose tool. way to go! you did a good job creating it. with levers and hand cranks added to it. in order for it to go right, left, up, and down. can be turned into a CNC Machine. Or, You can also make it to where you can attach different tools on it for different specifications. like for example, take the router and router holder off and install a skill saw and skill saw holder. so you can wall mount it in such a way where you can make it cut from right and left or up and down. you can also take the skill saw off and skill saw holder off and attach a big belt sander and belt sander holder on it. making it a drum sander. lowering each time you pass over the wood. you can also make straight accurate lines for tedious arts & craft work.

Hello to South Africa! When drilling the holes into your table to hold this jig, you should not do it free-hand. If you do it like shown here, you may accidently create a slope or tilt the jig so that you never get to parallel surfaces.

Do not use this idea in this form. It is to flexible and will have a lot of wobbling/vibrations. It will ruin your wood. More rigid profiles and better bearing - rolling surface solution is required.

Quick improvement, adding a brushes around the router head would help to keep surface cleaner, vacuum to suck more of the particles from the surfacing area, and help littlebit to get fingers under there. For the safety, I would add a vertical grip handles to the sled, so that you do not put your fingers ever below the sled, or off its edges even, but having hands always out of harms way. I think it could be just even one handle, or two for both sides but 45 degrees from center to the opposite corners, so you do the movement with one hand from either side. So you don't need to reach over with two hands.

I suspect this would make for a very good laser engraver or a Wood focused CNC linear rail/gantry system. This would also be really nice as a router-sled thingy, as you're using it. Nice work! I didn't notice or not- does the bottom have an eccentric nut on the bottom? That'd help get things perfect and allow adjustablity for lasers/CNC machines or I guess the way you made it with just the bolt that does the same as an eccentric nut would. I might actually base the CO2 Laser I'm saving up to build on this design. Thanks for the vid :D

Excelente idea!!!
