MAACO $600 MIATA PAINT JOB ROUND 2

I was about to go to maco but watched a lot of videos of crappy jobs and decided to do it myself and get a top notch job .

Yeah i painted 3 of my cars in my garage and saved thousands….on top of getting 1 of a kind custom pearl paintjobs on all 3….each car i get better, gonna re-shoot my mother inlaws accord next then the family hauler….(2014 black tahoe ltz) with failing clear coat😢😢😢😢…..my first one was my LSA supercharged nova, then my LS supercharged ‘73 c10 swb fleet, and the last one i finished 2 days ago on sunday….it was my 2010 cls550…it was black with failing clear coat, so i painted it a graphite charcoal grey with a white and black pearl mixed into the clear coat and it turnt out tits….the first two cars i did were white cause i was scared and i know white is forgiving…but that charcoal grey was sooo thin and layed down soooo flat i was in shock….now im kicking myself in the ass and considering painting my nova and c10 a darker color like i originally wanted too!!!!….but yeah i spent hours upon hours researching youtube paint videos until i urged up the courage to just do it…..now i actually enjoy it , especailly if its a newer car with minimal to zero bodywork involved, like my cls550……my tahoe is straight as an aarow too , its just big!!!

First of all 3:40 scared the f*ck out of me with the sudden exhaust audio lol I was wearing ear buds. Hell yeah this one came out a hell of a lot better. Night and day difference in quality job for the price. Definitely what I need to do to my Jeep since I'm just color matching as well.

They sand it for you already depends how much sanding tho And depends on what teir paint level you go with

I’ve worked at Maaco and there were a couple cars we took a panel or two down to bare metal, but only once or twice, when there was a bunch of old bondo screwing us up

Is maaco a California only type thing? I’ve only recently heard of em so idk. I’ve got a white 93 mustang hatchback that has some chipped paint and ugly blue stripes I don’t want. I’m wanting to redo the white with my girlfriend Bc the white that’s already on there is some universal code crap and I want OE Oxford white. And it sounds just like a good learning experience for the both of us. First timers. My grandfather owns an 800 gallon air compressor and we know a good shop to source paint and a spray gun. Also noting the mustang has ZERO dents at all. Or rust. Lucky find if I’m being honest. We are here in IL and that Miata just looks so good for how cheap the paint job was. So im kinda torn on which route to go honestly

Honestly idk if Maaco is in every state but they are pretty big. If you got the supplies and you feel confident I feel like you should do some research on how to spray Grab a couple bad body panels from a junkyard and practice till your comfortable and then shoot that stang! It’ll be a great learning experience for the both of you 👌🏼👌🏼

To remove small dents they charge $55 per dent You can get them to just shoot the car for $499 But sanding depends on how bad each panel is If you can sand the whole car down to 600 and then give them your car

I got a Maaco paint job on my 93 Na. It was single stage. Orange peel everywhere, it will have no orange peel and then as you go on the side of the car you really see it. Another imperfection was on the rear license plate panel, it is rough and not smooth AT ALL. It gives the car a sh*t look like I got that piece from a junk yard. Over spray on my radiator and everything in the front! Unbelievable how some maacos are better than others.

That's a one stage paint. Clear coat and paint mixed together. I hate those paint jobs. When you wax that car, your buffing pad turns the same color as the paint of the car, and that's because there's no clear coat to protect the paint. It's mixed in the paint. Then the shine isn't clear, it's a blurry shine. But you get what ya pay for.
