Today's concert:
What is dance without movement? Which words do you choose for a song without lines of poetry and a singing voice? How do you express that in compositions for a saxophone quartet? The Maat Saxophone Quartet asked those questions themselves and chose pieces that focus on dance and singing. Not literally, the effect comes alive in the minds of the listeners. If the music is blown over like a cloud of poetry and dance, then the Maat Saxophone Quartet's mission has been accomplished. A 'tailor-made' lighting plan could easily result in a mildly hallucinatory experience. The Dutch Classical Talent jury about the Maat Saxophone Quartet: 'They speak the same language, literally and musically! Technically very high level, organic interplay and an insanely tight presentation. Their program is original and stimulating, you want to keep listening.'
