I'd say the biggest issue with both the video and written instructions is the location of the wall jambs for the fixed end panel and the fixed shower door panel. The written instructions inform that you install the jamb so that the inside edge of the jamb is 1 1/2" from the edge of the inside shower threshold whereas in the video the jamb is centered on the threshold so that the center of the jamb is at 1 1/2". I closely examined the video for the fixed shower door panel and I believe a correction was made midway and that they didn't reshoot the first part. In the first part the fixed shower door jamb is installed centered at 1 1/2" whereas later in the video it is apparent that that fixed shower door jamb was adjusted to be closer to the outside edge of the shower threshold so that the outside edge of the fixed shower door wall jamb was 3/4" from the edge of the threshold. This also is affects the positioning of the shower door guide which also changes in the video. I appreciated the video but I kind of wish I hadn't seen it because then I would have positioned the fixed panel wall jamb and fixed shower door panel jamb as written in the instructions instead of following what was shown in video to center both jambs on the shower curb. The door installation turned out ok but the door tracks narrower at the close point versus how it sits when the door is open. I suggest that the video be reshot with consistency of jamb placement and that the music be substituted with a voice over that carefully describes what is being done. The written instructions could also benefit from a significant rewrite.

I just finished installing these doors, along with the alcove surround and base. Completed every aspect of it by myself with no trouble. Great product. Followed this video and used the instruction manual as a back up. Siliconed the hell out of it… no leaks! Thanks Aude!

I will also add, don’t follow the manufacturer guideline and use the template to set the door stop. If you do this it doesn’t leave enough room between the handle and the fixed door when open. You can smash your hand between them. I moved the stop about 1-2 inches over for safety.

Probably the hardest door I've ever installed in my 27 years of bathroom remodeling. We tried to follow the printed instructions which were terribly vague and often contradicted themselves. I had to go back several times and uninstall a piece in order to complete the step at hand (For example, the template for the wall fastener in STEP 2 does not allow enough room to install the spacers for the support bracket in STEP 10.) I have another half dozen examples that left me scratching my head. The video is better but they need to lose the soundtrack and add narration (For example at 3:37, "Position and level the fixed panel wall jamb 3/4 of an inch from the outside edge of the shower base.") Another problem, if any parts are missing or damaged, it's a 5 - 10 day wait (Maax will NOT overnight them to you.) A frustrating experience for me and my customer.

Same issue on Step 2 for me….provided Maax template is not a accurate for the 2 holes next to the wall jamb. This template does not allow for panel fasteners to fit between support bar and fixed glass panel. I now have tile drilled and it is off by 1/4 inch. Maax ….change your template or make your panel fasteners fit to template. I am totally capable of making a mistake and consumers should be able to trust a template out of the box. Templates ensure accuracy….so frustrating on shower door that cost over a $1000.00. Halo slider 60 Model 138997-900-340-000.

At 13:00 min you can see that door guide is hanging in air on one side. It would be better to plan its position at the center from the beginning. Then the fixed glass panel will be slightly off center.

Yes, ran into this problem after the fact. Both the instructions and the video fail to address this important issue. The door guide should be placed, measured and accounted for at the beginning before any drilling takes place. Due to Maax's flawed instructions I had to uninstall the entire door shower frame and reinstall 3/4" further out so the door guide was centered. And now I am faced with repairing holes in expensive Piedrafina marble. Very poor instructions and I have been a professional journeyman for over 40yrs.Shame on you Maax and your poor customer service! 😡 How about answering your phone sometime? Or is it busy with angry and frustrated customers?

I literally just did this same thing. Would have been really easy to just center the 3” guide on my 3” wide Maax shower base and then base my fixed wall off of that. Now I had to uninstall and redo the fixed wall but shift it over 3/4”.

Does the clear plastic double U shaped runner that is installed on the bottom of the door Go over the magnetic edge installed on the door edge. seems awfully tight to try and get it over that .wont it bulge out since its farther out than the glass itself. That would be step 3 in the manual. I have a 1/2 inch hole where the door meets the magnet catch at the bottom of the wall.Thats why I’m questioning that part of the install

On the fixed panel you need to have a clear sticker for treated side that says only warning message without distracting advertising "WARNING: THIS SIDE INSIDE SHOWER". Also, your printed instruction manual should have the same warning, currently there is NO warning at all that one side of fixed panel is treated and the other is not.

I managed to install this system but it would not be easy for a diy person. Various skills are required that include starting out with a good tile job to start and an excellent substrate behind the tile for mounting of shower hardware. A person would also need to know how to accurate measure and cut metal, drill into tile, be excellent at caulking, and be a natural born troubleshooter for it to be successful.

Maax should hire an engineer from Ikea to make a clear plan that can be followed. Identify your parts. The video says something, the booklet says something else. when you call for help you have A different version or we have an old book. If you are not a Mr Fix It this could be very frustrating.

I could not have done it without this video. Forget about the confusing instructions that come with the door. Throw it in the garbage!! I see comments about should the strip holding glass be inside or outside. It doesn't matter. Both sides are treated. One comment was the video doesn't show how to install handle. Give me a break. A 5 year old could do it without instruction. As for someone who wrote it was leaking from everywhere? You got to be kidding. Use silicone as they show on the video. Don't need a master's degree to do it right. I am not a professional, just take your time, bring your lap top and play it as you go through step by step. You will definitely need 2 people to carry glass and place into position. also need different drill bit if going through ceramic tile. Loved the music!!

all you do is take the fancy nut coverings off and loosen nut slightly and adjust the plastic (grey with wrench and it will go up or down . Tighten steel nut back up and put the crome knob back on.

Nice! Curious about slight out of level issues with the base threshold when installing this door. My 48'' base has about a 1/4 in. variance. Is that a deal breaker with this door?

You can adjust the door , 1/4 " should not be the problem , fixed panel should be brought to level , they provide leveling shims for that.

These instructions are brutal. Step 5a in the booklet says to install the sealing gasket on fixed panel from the outside, yet it shows a diagram of it being done in the inside. Step 7c for the return panel says and shows it being done on the inside. The video it links to if you scan the QR code with your phone shows them doing both the fixed and return panel gasket on the outside.

I called Maxx today and spoke to a rep in Montreal, and indeed, pg. 11 step 5 C, the gasket is installed outside the shower. In step 7 C, pg. 13 this gasket on the return panel, the gasket is installed inside of the shower. The difference has something to do with the fixed panel having a U-channel and the return panel just has a pvc strip.

When I tried installing the gasket on the outside of the fixed panel, it pushed the glass too close to the bar, and I could not install the panel fasteners. These instructions are horrible. They frequently contradict themselves and have steps out of sequence than shown in the video.

Bought this shower. Went back and forth between watching this video and using instructions. Once done I siliconed all my outside seams as told to in the video. First shower the water is running out f it. Looking over instructions again I see you show two different install methods for the strip that goes between the glass and the channel that screws to the wall. Here you show installing on the outside, which I did, and the instructions say install on the inside! So I then take them out a and try to install inside and with everything siliconed, the glass and channel wont give enough to get a tight seal on the bottom on the fixed panel., but rather just bows the channel out away from the glass. Now I have a leak and most likely will either tear it all apart and try to somehow get all the silicone off and start over, or silicone the snot out of everything to try and seal it up! Not very impressed at the moment

I just installed mine. Not easy. I put the glass to metal plastic strips on outside . If they pop out turn them end for end and push seal in so they wont be seen with tool. they are now holding. Had to remove any silicone from inside metal or glass would not stay in. Hope this helps.

As others have pointed out, you contradict the manual's instruction on page 15 step C to put that transparent strip between the glass and channel on the INSIDE edge!!! Also, how about you turn on that shower after you were done and let's see if it leaks :)

easy to use video and worked fine until we got to 10:24 installing the washers between the glass and horizontal door rail - not enough space to get the first one between glass and rail! and we followed exactly how to install and used the measuring tool for the vertical panel support and horizontal rail support - ended up having to take the piece down and drill new holes to 'cheat' the width needed between panel and door rail to get the bumpers in and the knobs on the outside done. also the part about leveling the door to fit at the end where it meets the side wall, is not explained well in the video so the book is invaluable at this point if you're a DIY..so far so good.. about to test it out with actual water ;P

The product is good. However, the printed instruction is hard to follow. a). The parts have numbers on them. But there is nowhere in the instruction to mention the part numbers in the installation steps, making hard to find the corresponding parts. b). In step 1A, it says "Position and level the wall jamb (fixed panel side) as close from exterior edge of the threshold as possible". But how close is close? I did to try to put as close as possible. But it seems not enough after installation. In order to avoid this, it's better to give the actual dimensions.

Has anyone actually installed this with definitive instructions? The wall jamb positioning is very unclear. Is it 1.5 inches from the inside edge to the centre of the wall jamb? Or is it 1.5 inches to the inside edge of the wall jamb? I'm disappointed that the instructions and video from the same company are so different.

Good to know that the instructions given with the kit are not followed in this video. The instructions have numbered parts then the numbers are invalid during the steps. Wall jamb is marked part #2 but then is just simply calledwall jamb in the instructions with no reference to the part number. There’s bolts for the support arm but no instructions on how to properly in stall them. They are quickly put in the video, basically only showing on her done anyway. Not happy with this product or it’s “ikea” instructions. Wouldn’t recommend for a non-experienced builder.

Just to add something , when shower dimensions are 60 " , it means that from wall to wall shower door opening can be maximum 59" wide , no more as that , and if Shower is 59" between wall and wall then no cuts are required for the top support bar , except button U channel that need to be cut 3/4" what ever is measured once the glass panel is placed temporarily to take proper final measurement , in a case of 59" opening only 3/4" need to be cut , and that's only cut required on a metal -aluminum profiles if shower measures 59" from wall to wall . I didn't install button threshold , because I wanted clean button peace of slab , after use of the shower for test there wasn't any spill beyond the door , slab was sloped when I installed ceramic tiles toward the shower pan , almost invisible slope 1/16" on a 6" wide slab , but prevents water to spill out of shower , however I would recommend installation guidance from MAAX , my installation is 100 % followed by MAAX instruction except the bottom threshold that I found unnecessary for my application . Good job MAAX , I like Shower door , excellent quality , cheers :)

I've been a handyman for most of my life and these directions were terrible!!! I worked on it for 3 days! Finally called the General Manager of Menard's and he tried to help me. What he told me did not work. I had to drive an hour to the store and took the door back and got a store credit. I went to the display shower and saw that one of the "L" shaped bumpers was cut to make it work but the doors were not parallel. Also the straight bumpers on the display was not mounted as in the directions. It was mounted horizontally on the top ridge. The video was easier to follow and the link should have been printed in the instruction booklet. My wife and I finally decided to to give up on a glass door and use a shower curtain. I would not buy another product from Maax again unless they compensated me for all the wasted time and stress!

Currently setting this shower door up and the directions are terrible. They don't follow the steps in this video, the parts aren't labeled so it's a guessing game of what's what, and the screw anchors they provide are complete garbage. Not to mention the supplied drill bit isn't even large enough for the anchors. I also had a to of issues of buying the Maax walls just to find out they were broken inside the box. I will never buy anything from Maax again and definitely won't be recommending their products to others. I'd suggest they improve their directions by labeling the parts being used and provide some verbal direction in this video instead of the elevator music. I want to have Bob Villa walk me through with actual words, not just music playing!

There is no video for the tub doors and the provided instructions are horrible. I already made a sharpie mark in the wrong spot because of this video. I have done all kinds of construction and I have never in my life come across instructions so horrible. If we could, we would return this door. Im also a mechanical engineer who has wrote manuals for my product. I’ve wasted so much time trying to find the correct instructions and there is no video for it. Just found out the provided drill bit is not larger enough for the damn screw inserts. So the inserts are breaking as I try to tap them in. WTF?

The absolute worst set of printed instructions I've ever used for installing a shower. Part numbers are marked on bags, but not referenced on the instructions. Just the name. And you can't cross reference from the instructions back to part number on the bag. Completely ridiculous. Then I had to remove the entire return bar from the U-tile surround, so now I have 4 holes in my brand new U-tile, that I specifically bought so I'd never have leaks, and I have no idea how I'm going to repair the U-Tile. Massively disappointed in the instructions. You need to do better. Should have stuck with Kohler like always.

Just installed Utile walls and Halo door Alcove --- the walls went well but the door wow wow what a piece of crap the instruction booklet is!! The screws are useless ,too small not long enough-- the drill is way too small for wall plugs they give you.The parts numbers do not match with the steps. and diagrams are more confusing then they are helpful--I wonder if there is "expert" that has actually assembled a door and proof reads the instructions ---awful experience

A very frustrating install to say the least. Missing steps, poor diagrams and lots of trial and error as a result. Maax should replace both the manual and video. I noticed the glass and none of the coated brushed nickel parts such as the support bar were not packed with peel off protective plastic sheeting. These parts scratch very easily so tape them off with packing tape when fitting and installing. The door handle has alot of play before you tighten it down. A sliced piece of 3/8" clear vinyl tubing fits perfectly in the 2 glass door holes for the handle.

Definitely poorly conceived directions. They don't indicate which panel is the "return" or "fixed" or which side the treated glass is on. Parts (3 of them) were missing and instead of expediting them, the guy is like "end of week or next week" - (hope you don't need to use your shower) the customer service call is over 65 minutes and then disconnected (was waiting on hearing about the glass direction). Part 14 of the return panel, the sticky pvc, is not installed in the video but is in the written directions - too bad the corporate leaders don't respond to feedback about these issues and fix them. Instead they put the CR reps on the firing line and piss off customers. It seems like a good product but I'd give MAXX leadership a D or F for failing their customers and staff by not hiring someone to write clear directions.
