For those of you who didn't know, Soos is dressed up as David Bowie from the movie Labyrinth. Labyrinth is a 1986 musical fantasy film directed by Jim Henson (creator of the Muppets, Fraggle Rock, and The Dark Crystals) with George Lucas (creator of Star Wars) as executive producer. David Bowie was a British singer, songwriter, and musician from 70s (may he rest on peace). He was a sexual awakening for a lot of people, especially after this film. 😏

People have brought up the Labyrinth reference but haven’t seen people bring up “why” Labyrinth was referenced, or at least the lore reason (from the Gravity Falls wiki): In a writer's panel podcast that Alex Hirsch guest starred on with J. G. Quintel (creator of Regular Show), he revealed a story idea that would have gone somewhere in the middle of the first season. The episode would have been a sort of parody of the 1986 film Labyrinth starring David Bowie. Dipper would be the brother who was stolen, while Mabel was the reluctant sister who would rather hang out with the Bowie-like "Groblin" King. It would have begun with her watching a Labyrinth-like movie for the nth time, and Dipper complaining about it so much, she wishes him away. The B-story would follow Dipper who reveals the reason why he hates the movie is because he's terrified of puppets and how he overcomes this fear. The episode went unproduced because Disney Channel executives didn't think anyone would understand the reference, and also doubted they could produce an entire episode out of that. Along with this episode referencing that lost episode, Dipper’s dislike of Bearo in the other short also kinda references this lost episode idea.

I know it's coming from a good place, but the whole 'billions of fish in the sea' stuff just doesn't hold water (phrasing intended). There are way too many factors that invalidate that sentiment. Sure, there are billions of people on earth, but you have to find someone who is: 1) not already in a relationship 2) the sex you're attracted to 3) within your age range 4) is somebody you'd find attractive 5) is actively searching for a partner 6) has compatible life goals with you 7) has enough in common with you to get along 8) lives close enough to you to make dating them reasonable Take those eight factors and those 'billions' drop down significantly, especially when you live in bum-fuck nowhere like I do.

That Dipper is able to scrunch up a *Hard Cover* book in frustration really shows that he and Mabel are true siblings. No one drives you more up the wall on a regular basis like family. Also Mabel coming into Stan’s dark room with sunglasses on because she knows how intense the rainbow reflection is going to be yet expects her Grunkle to appreciate rainbows for the first time in his life via that same intense reflection magnified even more by his non-sunglasses glasses. Maybe they would’ve been better off putting a pot of gold at the end of that rainbow and leading him to it.

Sadly when it comes to dating ego plays such a huge part. Let's say we have a scale from 1 to 10 with 1s really only able to date 1s (racist, rude, perverted, ect) and 10s being able to date anyone (Soos the world's perfect man :)). I'm not sure if it's true that we each have thousands in our dating pool. Both men and women have unrealistically high standards these days. It's to the extent that I'm starting to think the only way to fix the problem would be to make junk food healthy so that everybody looks younger and thinner across the board. It's literally easier than changing people's expectations or behavior. Just make people hotter by rigging the path of least resistance.

High standards coupled with a throwaway culture exacerbated by addiction to instant gratification. Why work on a relationship when you can find another with an app? I find that women sorely underestimate how hard dating is for men right now, especially if your only realistic option is to use a dating app. A study showed that on dating apps 10 percent of the men get ninety percent of the dates. While decent looking guys get very little, and average looking guys practically get zilch. I had lady friend (friend-friend, not girlfriend) who didn't believe me and made a dating profile as a guy using my pictures (with my permission) and got REALLY pissed off after a week of getting almost nothing and low-effort replies from any lady she matched with before getting ghosted. Women have their own problems on dating apps too, of course, as a lot of dudes are on there just looking to get laid and are shallow douchebags. Though the argument could be made that they make their own beds with that one due to only swiping right on super attractive guys. But I heard it described as men on dating apps are thirsty in a desert while women on dating apps are thirsty on the ocean. Men don't get any water, while women get plenty of water but none of it is drinkable. Though, once again, the problem for women seems to go back to the 'ten percent of guys get ninety percent of the dates' thing. Honestly I'm just salty about Alicia's little bit on dating, it's very out of touch. A spin-off series that takes place in the same world would be better. The Pine Family's story is complete and the show ended on a great note. Plus, Alex Hirsch (Creator) himself feels the same way and believes the story of Gravity Falls was concluded, and doesn't and never planned on making a Season 3
