Mabel’s HOOF CAST | What’s WRONG with Teddy Bear 🐻

Our fabulous farrier Chris Milby came along for his weekly visit, this time with the plan of getting a hoof cast onto Mable's foot to give her a little extra support whilst she is healing from her fracture.
The day did not quite go to plan but more on that in a later video! In short, Bear needed further investigation and our old boy Hidde was looking quite uncomfortable despite his hoof pads so we took a late trip up to see our vet Sam at Frame Swift.

It's nice to learn more about farriers. I often think of a farrier as one of a horses best friends. You all take such good care of your horses. ♥️🐴💙👍♥️🐴💙👍

What an expert farrier you have! I hope it's not too bad with Teddy Bear and Hidde. They are such beautiful bois ❤ I'm sure the reqlly bad weather we've had has played a part in all these feet problems.

Chris made that wrapping of the hoof look easy (sign of a good farrier). I would have it looking like a cat playing with a ball of yarn. Winter season is hard on everything...people, horses, equipment...keep the faith...Spring is only 71 days away 🌷🌷🌷 (more or less). Will be interesting to see what the vet says about the different complaints with the horses...hopefully it's things that can be managed without too much discomfort and cost. On pins and needles for Part 2 🤗

Yes, it was a very interesting VLOG, just as you said it would be … quite the Farrier, he is! You guys are certainly blessed with his knowledge and expertise. It was really neat watching him put on Mable’s cast … and it didn’t take long at all to do. Not that I knew what to expect, given I’ve never seen that type of thing done before. Unfortunately we didn’t get to hear what’s happened with both Teddy Bear and Hidde! 😮 I hope it’s not bad news. 😷 We only got to see Teddy Bear in this VLOG … where’s Hidde? 😧 … unless that was him when you cut to a different frame. It’s seems the fun and excitement never ceases there, does it?!? I can hardly wait for the next VLOG … I don’t mind saying, I’m on the edge of my seat in anticipation! Oh my life! 😮 LOL! Love it … 😊 … and no word of a lie, I heard Steve Young use that very phrase, in one of his most recent VLOGs. Too funny! Actually he’s said it in other VLOGs as well, come to think of it! Happy Trails. 🙏🙌🇨🇦🐎🐴🍷 (You’ll probably need that last Emoji just about now, after the day you’ve had … here, have another 🍷).

@@lindaallen78 I often wonder if Tracey has ever crossed Steve Young’s path … or if she’s been influenced by His methods or techniques. Not that his ways are patented per se … as by his own admission these are techniques or methods he’s accumulated or developed, as a result of teachings and/or observations of other good trainers he’s been influenced by, over the years.

@@dd3wc Mmmm, I don't really know. 🤔 Incidentally, if you like to watch farriers too, I can recommend Peter The Farrier. Also, here in the UK, he introduces you to the horses, shows you the before and after pictures and chats as he goes along. He's a really nice man. I have much admiration for farriers and Peter does remedial work too. Tracey is lucky to have her own good Farrier. It was fascinating to watch.

Mable looked like she was dressed up for the Christmas parade in Cartmel in that pretty little foot cast. Beautiful job! Try not to leave us hanging too long on your visit to the vet!
