1950's stuff == women are barefoot, pregnant, in the kitchen --- and silent when their husbands run around. Divorce was NOT common then; divorced women were often treated with no respect. New Hampshire required a 5 year period between the divorce being litigated, and a divorce being actually finalized -- during which, neither party could remarry. It was hell on single mothers, especially with deadbeat dads.

While every long term relationship is going to move past the lavender haze you want it to be an organic change not brought about by outside pressure. I think there are plenty of not famous people that can relate to nosy family and friends jumping the gun questioning if this is the one (marriage, kids, etc) while the people in the relationship are still trying to enjoy the moment.
