Here is a VERY important information I've been seeking for weeks in forums without success : When launching again the Macbook with the new SSD it might happen it does not show up neither in Disk Utility nor on the command line "diskutil list". Like if it was dead. Finally it happens that I was hitting Cmd+R for the boot which does not work and is different than Alt+Cmd+R (and in this video we see Alt+R, a third stroke) So be careful and hit the right keys on boot ! Alt+Cmd+R worked for me.

Anyone have luck with gen 4 nvme? I tried a Crucual P3 Gen 4 and not sure if it was the adapter or not but disk utility wouldn't see the NVME, I'm trying a different adapter and a P3 gen 3 nvme as I've seen others say that should work. Is it possible the adapter itself is not compatible with the gen 4?

i just upgrade my ssd on my macbook air 2017 running monterey samsung 980 and i run this test but the results about 6-700 read and write even may i know what is the problem ? why im not even reaching 1000 ?or i dont know how to use the test app ?

apparently the test results will show rear and write speeds up to those only ... with mac .. so no worries as the 700read write speeds are good . thanks for the comment

Check the speed limit of your adapter too. Even if your SSD supports higher speed but if your adapter doesn't then the speed will be capped with the adapter's speed. Also update your OS.

you can get adapter and case in Amazon , buy it and use it as an external drive .

Just did it with Monterey and with a 1TB Samsung 980 and the same adapter. The basics are right. It's 2023 and 1 TB is like 55 EUR. However if you can't fit the old screw the modules need to pushed in more. I had to reopen the laptop again since the SSD was not recognized. After some readjustments everything fit fine and the old screw fit too. If you wanna reinstall from TimeMachine: Don't encrypt the SSD - APFS format only (you can later enable file vault if needed}! Name it exactly like the old SSD was named! I did an USB install it's faster esp. if you need to retry. Still thank you for the video just wanted to add some info!
