Here's the thing. Mac wrote some great lyrics. But without the brilliant interpretation by the king, it wouldn't have been the masterpiece it became. The tone of his voice is reverential. His delivery, superb. The soul depth and diversity of elvis is unmatched to this day.

I saw an interview with van halen saying gs wrote in the getti and it wasn’t true, I googled, wondering why he would take the credit I don’t know but that wasn’t a nice thing to do even though he’s passed from cancer, that’s a whopper of a lie , I believed it until I saw this and googled,

He wrote" memories " and" A Little less conversation" too! many song writers that write multiple songs for an artist usually are pretty good friends. But Elvis was soooo famous.. that's TOO famous 😵 I don't think I could live that way
@bradhuskers

@@piper888 The thing about elvis was his soul and depth. Songs he turned into pure perfection through his soul depth and diversity, other artists came up mediocre. That's amazing. Same lyrics, YET elvis's soul depth and diversity, makes them light years better. That's the mark of a true iconic artist.

I just really like Mac Davis, what a decent man! In this story he shows how even the littlest man, given a tiny bit of authority, goes ape mad with it! This seems to be the problem with probably a majority of people, give them a little authority and they will become a complete Tyrant. Think about it, go to the movies with Elvis, and his little twit usher makes you sit two seats behind him!

Not that I believe anyone is better than anyone else, even Elvis, but Mac seemed a little out of line. If that was the rule, so be it, Elvis popped for the theatre rental he can do what he wants. If Mac was upset about it, sure, being it up to Elvis, but instead he threw a temper tantrum and then asked for Elvis phone number as if Elvis owed him something.

Sometime in the early '80s I was invited to lunch at the Bel Air Country Club. As I was about to enter the restaurant there, Mac Davis exited, walking past me in the opposite direction. Of course, I recognized him, so I looked back over my shoulder and I saw him getting into his car (a Mercedes if I remember correctly). I noticed his customized license plate was "ND GETTO" (or similar spelling) and that confirmed it was definitely Mac Davis.

It is clear that Elvis was way better than his entourage, but he also wanted it that way because helped him to live in a bubble, isolated. Happens to other great stars too, even in sports. How could Elvis not know that people were not let to sit in his same row in a theater? We are proud of Mac Davis. Born in Lubbock, Texas. He had a huge, beautiful send-off and service at the Lubbock cemetery. His wife bought several plots for shade trees and a nice area to sit and remember. Yellow roses on where his headstone will be soon. I was there to spread my Mom's ashes on her Sister's stone and a little on Buddy Holly's stone. So many shiny new copper pennies laid on Buddy's carved guitar. Several fans left black rimmed glasses as a token of respect. We put some pennies there. Mom liked him.

Elvis was the greatest talent of his generation but was unable to control his appetites. He created a bubble where he could indulge at will in drugs, sex, and food. Only people who idolized him were permitted in the bubble, so gradually he became detached from the real world. His life was cut short, a great loss to all.

In the early years of my music career I submitted two songs to a song competition contest. And was awarded a two song recording contract. Part of the award came with D J Fontana being former Elvis's original drummer for like 15 years. Whom I believe put the rock beat in drums! And as backup vocals on my two singles were done by The Jordanairs. Elvis's original backup vocals group on records, movies and live shows. Not like Mac I never met Elvis but what stories did D J Fontana and The Jordanairs share with me on Elvis. One could feel Elvis in the studio and around the wonderful and professional people who knew him from the start and very well. I will never forget the experience!!

I don't think his employees would make that up. Elvis most likely told that individual to say to most but maybe didn't tell that person Mac D. was invited. Other Mafia members shared similar stories and so did one of his girlfriends. Elvis normally sat alone. When he invited new girlfriends they would sit one row behind, not next to him. This is the first story I heard Linda being there next to Elvis.

My best friend's brother Paul shared a plane seat with Olivia Newton John in the 1970s about 1973. Man, I was so thrilled to hear this. Paul was so good looking and athletic with that bronzed, blonde thing going for him. Olivia was exactly the type of girl Paul went for.I grew up with their family across the street in Lubbock ,Texas....I'm sure he was a happy young man to be talking with Olivia. This was around the time when you heard, "If you love me let me know, if you don't then let me go" on the radio when Olivia was starting out.we were huge Mac Davis fans also.

Never met Mac but his son Scott used to come visit his grandmother Edo (Edith) and we got to be friends, we fished off the dock and other things! Wow that was back in the early to mid 70s! Always like Mac's show and always thought he was a class act! I've visited a house in Decatur ga that Mac lived in with his mother! Think he might have wrote some of his songs there! I remember: It's Hard To Be Humble When You're Prefect In Every Way! He got alot of laughs with that one! RIP Mac!

I wish Mac had called Elvis in his home number and spoken to him directly... Have been his friend... Clearly, Elvis sought out other musicians in his time, tried to be their friend... Tried to be free , go beyond the Memphis mafia... I feel the other musicians were intimidated by his gigantic stature . He was Star among stars. Wish they had come forward more to be friends with me. By the many interviews I came across, it was Parkers ploy to keep Elvis quarantined from rest of the world, (like the Aloha project guy, and the other lady who did his bio) but those who held strong and dented it, could reach Elvis and Elvis always, always , went along with them , totally against Parker. I wish there were more that dented that evil parker barrier and held Elvis's hand that he had stretched out to others...

I saw in a documentary Elvis called the bass singer in his quartet and he regrets he never called Elvis back. Some believe Elvis deeply wanted to sing in a gospel quartet all his life and if people hadn't given up on him because he let himself go (he was finally mourning the loss of his mother) and encouraged him along those lines he may have gotten himself healthy again.

Yeah, I read a lot of stuff about Parker and documentary. Guy was jerk to put it very very mildly. He was very possessive of Elvis and didn't want Elvis go into movies, thought money was better in music and didn't want Elvis to leave the country because he was afraid of him talking to others and lose him. Parker wasn't allowed to leave the country.

I wish the same that Mac would have called and been a good friend to Elvis after that incident. I kinda felt bad for Elvis after that story and how awkward that must have been. I wish the Memphis Mafia would not have been such a presence in everyday affairs with Elvis and allowed to him to have more normal dealings with people such as the Mac Davis story.

I think true fans of Elvis Presley, or celebrities in general, are more interested in these small stories than anything related to the entertainment personas. A tiny glimpse into an average moment for these people is simply nice to hear. The art that happens on stage is great, but the countless stories of what went on in the real world are so much better.

In 1979 or 1980 I was in the backseat with my best friend on our way to the Puyallup Fair in WA state. His mom was driving and her girlfriend was in the front passenger seat. We are heading down the highway and I saw this guy with lots of hair driving a Monte Carlo singing to his radio. He was by himself. I told my friend's mom..."hey, that looks like Mac Davis". The girls both freaked out. IT WAS MAC DAVIS!!! They talked to him for a couple minutes at the offramp. That's MY Mac Davis story. Fyi, he was very kind.

I attended his show as a teen. While waiting to go into the studio, we submitted our phrase. During the show, he pointed to me to say my word and the lady behind me started screaming and jumped up and everyone looked confused because she wasn't the one. But I sat back down and Mac sang her word and it wasn't used in the final show. So much for my chance at being on tv

Even though I was only 4 years old when Elvis died, I always considered him the epitome of cool. The way he talked, his look , of course the first songs when he still had DJ, Bill and James as his band all combined to form the ultimate rock star.
