Here's the thing. Mac wrote some great lyrics. But without the brilliant interpretation by the king, it wouldn't have been the masterpiece it became. The tone of his voice is reverential. His delivery, superb. The soul depth and diversity of elvis is unmatched to this day.

@@piper888 The thing about elvis was his soul and depth. Songs he turned into pure perfection through his soul depth and diversity, other artists came up mediocre. That's amazing. The Memphis Mafia, on the whole, were good guys and loved Elvis very much. Also, as Elvis was the world's first global superstar, his local friends and those he took to in the Army helped keep him tethered to the world around him. They were unfailingly loyal, until the end, too, and not a word of scandal was ever breathed about Elvis until around or after his death. Several of them were also quite talented, such as Red West - who was an excellent songwriter - and also became a fantastic character actor. His Cousin, Sonny West, was also a very capable 'Head of Security' and was cited by the Secret Service (when they actually were a premier law enforcement agency) as doing a fantastic job! Charlie Hodge was also very talented as both a musician and comedian (and for helping arrange Elvis' road shows) and Joe Esposito was well known for his excellence in management. George Klein was also a tremendous disc jockey for decades and Jerry Schilling - the nicest guy you would ever meet - also went on to manage the Beach Boys, Billy Joel, etc. Should Sonny, Red and Dave Hebler ever have written the book they did? No, but they were also angry, and one can understand why if knowing of their lifelong relationship with Elvis. (Red and Sonny) Elvis, too, is also the one who put those rules in place - and in spite of his wonderful nature- put them in place to keep certain people away from him. Did the guys, at times, over-protect him? Yes, but it was Elvis who set out the rules and simply didn't realize the negative impact they also had on his life, at times.

Not that I believe anyone is better than anyone else, even Elvis, but Mac seemed a little out of line. If that was the rule, so be it, Elvis popped for the theatre rental he can do what he wants. @christophertyler3425Ай бұрын
@@joeblough261 I tend to agree with you, as Mac said he had a good time, and I would just have said 'sorry about that, I didn't know anything about any rules,' and that would have been it. Been receiving manys vid clips from back in the day of, and about EP on my cellphone. While Ive always had a great deal of admiration for him and now watching the recent ELVIS movie, I have a mini-obsession 🥰✨. We all heard it before, he was so talented, beautiful inside and out, makes me sad each time how he ended up. I feel his entourage is to be blamed. I feel, behind closed doors, he was lonely 🥺 Didn't realize that this Memphis Mafia as they call them, kept him guarded at every step. MAC, great guy, RIP, made it clearer with that mention of the MM surrounding him. Anywho EP wherever you are ✌🏻 love ❤️ and respect! Damn it why ☹️ Elvis Presley like no other. The good Lord threw out the pattern when he was born. Imagine had his twin survived 🤯

Great Comment! I'm 43, I wish to God I was raised & got to have fun in 70s. The music was primo; never repeated! You were lucky/blessed it sounds. Both my Mom & M.I.L. saw Elvis!❤👯

I don't think his employees would make that up. Elvis most likely told that individual to say to most but maybe didn't tell that person Mac D. was invited. Other Mafia members shared similar stories and so did one of his girlfriends. Elvis normally sat alone. When he invited new girlfriends they would sit one row behind, not next to him. This is the first story I heard Linda being there next to Elvis.

Mac is in Heaven with Elvis and so many other greats... I can only imagine what a concert they are all having up there... They may be gone but they will never be forgotten, Their legacy lives on for generations to come...

Sometime in the early '80s I was invited to lunch at the Bel Air Country Club. As I was about to enter the restaurant there, Mac Davis exited, walking past me in the opposite direction. Of course, I recognized him, so I looked back over my shoulder and I saw him getting into his car (a Mercedes if I remember correctly). I noticed his customized license plate was "ND GETTO" (or similar spelling) and that confirmed it was definitely Mac Davis.

I remember watching his TV show with my mom as a little boy. Mom introduced me to some great singers as a child. Mac was one of them. Love you mom. I miss you every day.

There are enough books, articles and interviews out there. Everybody who so much as brushed up against the man or pumped gas for him has had a story to tell and sell.

My senior prom, a bunch of high school kids in tuxedos at a nice restaurant in Nashville and who comes up to our table to say hi, Mac Davis. He was extremely polite and offered to buy us a bottle of Champagne until the waiter informed him were were under age. I am not sure if everyone at our table knew who he was, but I did. This was 1984 and he was a very gracious man.

Does anyone have the same response upon hearing the news that Elvis had died ? which is this: I was very angry! With him for dying. My first thought after this was: there will never be any more songs coming from him. What we have will be all that we will ever have. I was really very upset by this. As I have said, do any others have that same experience as I had.

Mac David was an incredible man. He stayed at our family’s resort a couple of times and got to know my parents pretty well. Such an easy guy to talk to and generous with his time. We went to dinner with him and a storm caused the restaurant to lose power. I remember him playing “the spoons” while we waited for the lights to come back on and get our dinner. He stayed in touch with my parents and even invited them to his house.

Even though I was only 4 years old when Elvis died, I always considered him the epitome of cool. The way he talked, his look , of course the first songs when he still had DJ, Bill and James as his band all combined to form the ultimate rock star. I've seen and heard musicians and thought ' reminds me of the Stones, or Beatles or whoever but NOBODY reminds me of Elvis. He was totally unique
